If McCain loses the general election to the Democratic nominee the rightwing will say it was because McCain wasn't "conservative" enough.

Thus salvaging the idea that "conservatism" is still a viable ideology...

And in that instance will push the republican party further to the right thus ensuring more losses in the polls...

Unless of the course the American people take a liking to fascism.

.....Actually what I'm concerned about is that Wall Street is setting the table for an economic firestorm to occurr during a Democratic Presidency and then turning around and blaming the Democrats (ala Jimmy Carter)
