Can someone tell me why Hillary didn't show up to vote against the FISA Bill? |
|
I mean seriously, I don't see anyone talking about this, so I am just curious.
If she is ready to fight the republicans, then where the heck was she on this one?
She was in Washington today. Why didn't she show up?
Obama showed up... and voted against it.
And please don't tell me it doesn't matter, because when you rail against someone for their "present" votes, you damned well better show up to cast yours.
At least with his present votes... in the STATE SENATE, Obama bothered to show up.
So come on... please... give me your rationalization for this. I am anxiously awaiting!

he came to the floor during the vote over the republican resolution condemning the free speech of Move On, but failed to vote against the bill, failed to vote on it at all.

Gotta change the subject.
There is a difference here, so don't play dumb. Also, he gave a very good reason for that; it was a waste of time. And it was.
The FISA bill on the other hand... NOT a waste of time.
Nice try to divert attention though.

26. Ok, it was a bad political move, but |
|
Do you really want her to make a hollow political gesture just to get good press? She was campaigning. This particular amendment was a totally lost cause. She has been very clear about her position on the telecom immunity issue (consistent with Obama).
I think she made a political mis-step, but her reasons, I think, are legitimate.
Oh, and i have read elsewhere that she was in Texas, not Washington.

The House bill is much better and when the bill comes out of committee, the vote will be very important. Today's vote meant something in terms of making a statement but it would not have changed anything.

I don't understand why people just can't look at Hillary's voting record and see that she votes like a neocon and is AWOL when it comes to these incredulous Bush power plays and "Unitary Executive" abuses.
She doesn't hide who she is and all you need to do is look at her voting record.

that Obama didn't show for, so let's not go down this road again. Obama missed an important Iran vote recently because of campaign business, so Clinton did the same today.
try and enjoy Obama win tonight and not come off like a sore winner. This race still has legs in it and if you're are angry on a night you won...well I'd hate to see what happens if you lose this thing.

That's what her supporters say. It wouldn't have mattered so she might as well not show up. I'm not sure the people of NY (and the entire US since she wants to lead the entire country) thought this wasn't important. Would have been nice of her to represent them and us. But that's just too much to ask.
I'm sure the Telecoms will pay her richly for not voting.
