Why do so many people hate HIllary? |
|
I voted for Obama last Tues. but I think if Hillary won, I would still be happy with the Dem candidate. Why do I keep hearing that Hillary's degatives are 49% and her positives are 48%?
I guess I understand there are some who hate Bill for his indiscretions, but what do they have against her?

12. Naw, even the media is against her. Find me ONE media |
|
supporter or even positive speaker in her favor. There aren't any. I admit I only watch CNN & MSNBC but I feel sure there's sure no FOX supporter of Hillary there! I guess my biggest broblem is that so much of the media seems to b against Hillary and havent' bedgered Obama...Yet. I'm very afraid that if he does get the nomination, the barage of attacks will begin, and continue until Nov. I HOPe Bill & Hillary will at least advise him on how to deal with it. He really hasn't ever deal with the RW slime machine....YET. We all know it's coming!

this early in the game because they WILL go to the one w/majority of pledged delegates.

18. before we move forward |
|
realistically there's plenty of backwards that needs to be faced and fixed. Believe me I'm all about change and I've been through these "Change" campaigns before. There's no way to move forward though until the past is fixed, like when there's a big tree in the road, you're not moving anywhere until it's moved. We tend in the Dem party to ignore certain problems, like in the 90's when the big red machine began to gain strength. We tried to move forward and we were shot in the back (Bill Clinton had nothing to do with it). So remember...before we move forward we need to deal with in realistic terms the here and now. And this isn't a pro-Obama or Pro-Clinton statement, it's a huge price must be paid before we simply move forward statement or else we'll just all get shot in the back again.

24. if you factor out Obama for a minute... |
|
I have three problems with Hillary. First, because of her Iraq vote she is emotionally vested in "winning" this war, whatever that is. That is a luxury the country can't afford that right now.
Secondly, she is candidate with the highest lobbyist contributions across both parties this season, someone please tell me these lobbyists hand over gobs & gobs of cash and leave town without expecting to influence policy.
Thirdly, she has no credibility for resolving the problems in the middle-east.
So we end up with a bush-lite status quo, surely that is not what the dems have in mind...

then he and his wife would have been demonized.
I'm also an Obama supporter, but I have a great deal of respect for Hillary and Bill.

the petty, just flat out nastiness of a lot of the anti Hillary stuff is very hard to deal with. I'm trying my best not to tie it to Obama, since I may have to support him in the GE.
But the scorched earth tactics toward Hillary and her supporters on this board make it difficult to remain objective.

The pre-bush repubs did "hate" them... |
|
The amount of hate-talk on the internet for the clintons was amazing. Even the "libertarian" / "conspiracy" people on the internet saw the Clintons as their justifications for every New World Order conspiracy they ever dreamed of (see Alex Jones in the 90s).
For some progressives, "hate" is a strong term. See Amy Goodman's interview with Bill when he was leaving office as some of the reasons we were not happy after eight Clinton years. Some of us weren't happy, and we felt progressive values were not represented at all in the media or in the national discourse, thus some of us felt nader was a god send.
I would not lump Obama supporters with Clinton "haters" tough...that it is a stretch.

14. As well as hatred, I would add that she is dehumanized. The vile things said about her... |

including here, indicate that in the minds of some, she is not a human being but something that anything can be said about, something that has no human feelings worth acknowledging, much less respecting.

The people who just caved on the FISA bill today, and so many other times over the last 7 years.
She is a leader in that group, and I want them as far from the leadership in the party as possible. They choke this party to death.
It is not hate, but a genuine political reason to not like her.

13. Some people hate Hillary |
|
most are RW shills and Republicans. Some don't hate her but just don't want to revisit the Clinton stuff again. "Sins of the father" (or the hubby), perhaps. She uses the successes of the Clinton administration but really can't have it both ways. She can't cherry pick and just go with what worked if she is claiming that her years as First Lady count as experience.
We have a few Clinton haters on DU, but don't put all Obama supporters in that catagory. I'm for Obama but will vote for Clinton if she is or nominee. But I do not underestimate the ability of the name Clinton to galvanize the Repulican Party behind whoever their nominee is, no matter how weak he is.

15. The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy has hated Hillary even since before Bill was elected. |
|

It might have started with the "little woman baking cookies" remark during the 1992 campaign. The wingers always thought she was a raging commie feminist castrating shrew, and some of the occurrences during the Clinton administration, like the health care debacle, the White House travel office incident, Vince Foster's suicide, Whitewater, etc., were blamed on her. She was viewed as having "too much" power for a First Lady (kind of like Eleanor Roosevelt, who was also reviled by the Right). Even though their accusations and criticisms were and are irrational and unfair, they're out there, and the wingers have had almost 16 years to keep them festering.
I know otherwise fairly rational people who just froth at the mouth when you mention her. When I ask them exactly what it is about her they don't like -- specific actions or positions -- they can't articulate anything. It's always something like, "I just don't like her. She's too liberal."
I do suspect there's an element of misogyny under the surface.

which just underscored DOMA, welfare reform, her consorting with anti-gay preachers and Rick Santorum - she was very busy giving herself right-wing cover for a Presidential run. Not leading, following and cowering and cow-towing.

19. Two reasons: her Iraq War Vote & 28 years of Bush Clinton |
|
I know she is too smart to have been surprised that Bush would attack Iraq - I knew he would do it and millions around the world protested to try to stop it.
I believe in Democracy and 12 yrs of Bush Sr, 8 Years of Bill Clinton and 8 more years of Bush Junior, all capped off with 4 more years of Hillary Clinton - doesn't smell like democracy to me.

her bad judgment in voting to authorize the IWR cost her my support. Hell, all of us at DU knew not to trust * and that the resolution was implicit approval to wage war, murder millions of innocents, and eventually takeover the world (PNAC).
