No matter what?

For example, on Colbert, Spitzer said he was supporting Hillary all the way to the convention, and some people around here seem to believe it.

(On EDIT--I'm using him as an example, because he's one of the few HRC superdelegates I'm aware of off the top of my head. Not all of HRC's superdelegates are loyal-by-default New Yorkers)

NEWSFLASH--not to rub it in, but Edwards said the same damn thing before he dropped out. So did Romney.

A promise like that only works if the campaign involved has the money and resources to continue campaigning, and at this rate, Hillary soon won't. She's hurting for funds, and she lost ANOTHER key campaign person tonight. What she needs is a miracle from the popular vote in OH and TX, not more promises from politicians who are themselves dependent on the will of the people to win re-election. If they're NOT up for re-election, what do they have to lose by betraying Hillary? Are the Clintons going to drive up and egg their house?

Plus, we ALL know about politicians and their promises...

Hillary supporters should not count on the SD's to win this thing for her. Start phonebanking and organizing in those two states, because that's the only thing that can win it for her.

1. How recently did Spitzer say that?
Being that he is her governor, I am sure that loyalty is in play.

2. On Colbert--taped in the Afternoon, before Obama's Potomac sweep.
MAYBE Spitzer is a bad example, but outside of New York?

If it all comes down to Spitzer's vote, Obama will have much more trouble than that--if it comes down to that, Obama will have lost several states by HUGE margins.

3. Some of the superdelegates will stay pledged to Hillary, but not most.
Take Washingston State. They have two senators who said they back Hillary. Washington went overwhelmingly for Obama. If the two senators want to get reelected the next time they run, they will think a long time about crossing their constituents. They may stay home or abstain, but they are not going to vote for Hillary and vote to override what the vast majority of their consituents have done.

As for Spitzer, yes, he's her governor, and he'll stay loyal til the end, since she won the state big time.

4. The currently uncommitted super-delegates will swing strongly to Obama - that should be enough (n/t)
