Hillary and Guiliani have made similar mistakes |

and I don't mean in campaign strategy. They underestimated the American people in this time. Both Hillary and Rudy put all their eggs in the same types of baskets and made assumptions that the sheer weight of the machine and name recognition are enough for people to flock to support them. What they misread was that people on both sides of the aisle are tired of the smashmouth politicking of the lst 2 decades and they are tired of being ruled by fear and bludgeoned by the past. People are tired of feeling trapped between two unwielding and polarized ideologies that refuse to give so that real work can be accomplished. So many people here mock the "politics of hope" and treat Obama's message as fluff. Hope is the stuff of dreams and those who dare to dream big can accomplish great things. Hillary and Rudy both failed to take into account the human spirit, which will invariably seek to rise above even the most mendacious of games.

At least, we USED to. But we also used to doubt the press and think that politicians weren't completely altruistic.
Change ... it certainly has.
