Edwards Weighs Clinton Endorsement |
|
http://www.abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=4281404&page=1Though he sometimes aligned himself with Obama — and against Clinton — as a candidate, several Edwards campaign insiders say the former senator began to sour on Obama toward the end of his own campaign, and ultimately left the race questioning whether Obama had the toughness needed to prevail in a presidential race.
"He is much more torn than people realize," said one former aide who has stayed in contact with Edwards. "Honestly, he has serious reservations about both of them."
Several people close to the former North Carolina senator say he may ultimately stay neutral in the race, joining former Vice President Al Gore on the sidelines of the tightest Democratic race in decades.
That may become a stronger possibility if Obama continues to build momentum toward the nomination: Edwards does not want to back a losing candidate, and neither does he want to join a bandwagon, aides and

1. If has serious reservations about both - then he shouldn't endorse either.. |
|
At this point, i'm not sure how much weight an Edwards endorsement would make anyway. Most of his staunch supporters have moved on, done research and picked which candidate they like the best.
I don't know if many of them would flip to Obama from Hillary or vice-versa just because "John says so".
I think we all realize that an endorsement at this point would be more political and less about who he really thinks the best canddiate would be anyway.

6. I don't know why John Edwards is so lionized around here |
|
He's always seemed kinda weaselly to me. He was a total centrist while in the Senate before he had his "conversion" to hero of the poor and working class.
I frankly don't give a shit about his endorsement.

4. If he can't figure out that Hillary is poison and doesn't share his beliefs, I'm glad he lost. |
|
He's turning out to be less than what he presented for four years.

5. Chosing Clinton over Obama does not condemn one to be a liar. |

7. he won't endorse hillary |
|
he's just trying to not break ties with the clintons
edwards, something of an outsider compared to bill/hillary, needs to keep all the friends he can get.
i think he truly respects hillary but he won't endorse her. he wants people to know that "he's torn" and that "its a hard decision because they are both strong candidates". seeing how they got along during the campaign - haha - i can't see him endorsing her candidacy unless some big treat like vp was offered. even then, i dont think its going to happen.

8. Edwards gives himself too much credit |
|
He doesn't have much influence at all here in NC. I don't see why what he thinks should be taken anymore seriously than a Congressman from Alaska

9. as an Edwards supporter |
|
I really hope he stays out if he's torn. To jump either way at this point would hurt. I heard him interviewed before he dropped on who he would support and then he said he was inclined towards Obama because he was change. However, it is Clinton who has his health care plan.
I would really be dissappointed if after fighting against the Corp interest in DC, he would endorse the person he was fighting against the most. It makes no sense except for the health care issue.
I did break for Obama because I wanted change. John...keep fighting for change. Stay out for now and wait. We'll need you when the nomiation process is over.
