Time to Run Against Existing Democrats |
|
We really need to start doing what Republicans did, and run people against these Democrats who keep voting for the war, who keep voting to destroy the constitution, by taking away freedoms, and replace them with people who are really Democrats and will protect our rights.
It is my understanding that this has been done successfully in several states, and it needs to continue, especially in the Senate. Anyone have any examples of this happening already? It is all part of beginning to pull back in the tug-of-war for political spectrum. Democrats have been wallowing around in the puddle in the middle for decades now. We need the solid footing of the left.

1. Didn't that just happen last night, with Progressive Donna Edwards... |
|
...trouncing Con-enabler Albert Wynn in Maryland?
If people can mount viable campaigns against these DINOs, it's definitely time!

5. It took awhile but the folks in Wynn's district |
|
finally wised up to what a DINO he was! Good for Donna Edwards for hanging in there after losing by a slim margin in 2006!

9. And didn't Nancy Pelosi stick her nose in the primary. |
|
I read that she held a fundraiser for Wynn a while back.
The DCCC is no better Under Chris Van Holen than it was under Rahm Emmanuel. Every time it looks like a progressive might have a shot, they recruit another "centrist to run in the primary. They've already screwed a few people, such as Clint Curtis this cycle.

2. Can you imagine what a hard job that would be? |
|
With all of the entrenched monied interests in party politics? The machinations of Rahm Emmanuel et al? The PEOPLE need a party of their own. One that isn't beholden to any outside interests other than the people it serve. I'm beginning to think that the Democratic Party no longer represents me...or my interests and I don't see it changing anytime soon when you have the mentality of "electing any old Democrat". We are seeing how that has worked for us...ie DLC, Blue Dog Democrats, etc. Now...instead of fixing what is WRONG in the Democratic Party...they are calling on all disenchanted republicans to join with us so we can be firmly planted in the squishy middle with all progressive thoughts/ideas/platforms going out the window.

4. Correct, except that the "squishy middle" is really far over to the right on any |
|
realistic continuum. "Traditional" democrats do/would not recognize their old party.

6. Yes, and it has started |

with Edwards' win over Wynn in MD yesterday. I would also encourage you to support progressives already in office who are facing corporate challenges-namely Dennis Kucinich http://www.kucinich.us
