Why Gen. Wesley K. Clark is bar none the best candidate for Obama's VP slot. |
|
Foreign policy creds
Military background
White House experience (worked closely with Bill)
Great resume
Good in front of a camera
LOOKS presidential
Has political experience because he ran in '04
Has articulable domestic policy opinions
Has debate experience
Has a nice, short last name ("Obama-Clark" has a good ring)
Adding him to the ticket wouldn't lose a seat in Congress or a governorship
Is extremely competent without being overbearing; wouldn't overshadow the nominee
What say YOU?

1. He would be good for both candidates as VP |

He would be good for both candidates as VP. In the election he would be good insurance against the damage a terrorist attack would have. Afterwards, his experience in international relations would be priceless.

2. I would agree (voted for him in our primary in 04) |
|
But he's so personally tied to the Clintons, and Hillary's run for President, that I dont believe he would accept the VP slot with Obama.

I believe Wes Clark would serve with either candidate. He would value service to his country and party above all else.

5. Is he really THAT tied? |
|
I mean, I think someone can support a candidate, or even campaign for them, without having their life and future dictated by that candidate. Wes Clark is his own man.

8. Who cares if he's a Clinton supporter? |
|
If opponents in a primary can team up on a ticket (i.e. Kerry/Edwards), then why can't surrogates?

Clark is a solid, proven leader who deserves a place in a post-bush, cleanup-mode government.

18. His integrity is intact, as always. |
|
He's made a forceful case for Hillary, but kept it above board. Don't forget that after he lost the nomination to Kerry, and immediately upon withdrawing right through election day, he worked harder than any high-profile figure to help Kerry.
Obama should have no qualms about asking him, and if it's the right choice for service, he should have no qualms about accepting the offer. He would be an absolute asset to the campaign, especially, as others have pointed out, given the McCain opposition. Wes Clark would be an invaluable vice-president... don't get me started on listing his positive attributes.
I would have liked Clark-Obama '08 very much indeed, but I'd be very happy with Obama-Clark '08

I've always had a bit a of creepiness factor with him. but that's just me; not a reflection on him, who obviously I have never met.
