Refuting the latest Obamite swiftboating of Edwards just like the good ole days!
Put down the kool aid. You may not agree with his reasoning but it is very logical and backed up the facts. He isn't a fraud for looking at the facts. You are proving what your critics say by your reaction to him considering not endorsing your deity. If you disagree with him put out the facts. Let's see YOU, instead of reviving the smears you used against him for a year (now you all love him :eyes: so long as he follows the messiah), argue against his reasoning. Put out the facts. How is Obama better than Hillary for the working class? Let's see the policy, not empty slogans. "Change", "hope", "yes we can" are jokes. They do nothing for working folks. How is Edwards to reconcile himself to Obama not advocating universal health care?

-snip-

Several Edwards campaign insiders say the former senator began to sour on Obama toward the end of his own campaign, and ultimately left the race questioning whether Obama had the toughness needed to prevail in a presidential race.

-snip-

The former candidate is weighing a number of considerations before making his choice - including electability, and who will best promote his ideas.

There are policy considerations at play: there is a sense within the Edwards camp that Clinton's policies could be better for working class Americans. But Obama's anti-lobbyist proposals are more aligned with Edwards' politics.

-snip-

On Obama, the aide says, Edwards worries "whether he's tough enough to be President of the United States. If you look at what Edwards ran on, which is not negotiating with the special interests, taking away their power, that's pretty different than the Obama model."

The Edwards aide added that Obama's lack of a health care plan with a "mandate" is a "tough hurdle for him to get over." He added, however, that Edwards is much more in line with Obama on other issues.

1. Why do Obamites run whenever it comes to providing the substance of his policies?
Is it because they are afraid to look at the DLC/Hillaryesque details or are they just unaware of them and supporting him for "other" reasons?

5. I'm against health care mandates unless it is true universal care
I disagree with Edwards and Hillary on that.

Mandates take the worst aspects of the Nanny State -- and riles the opposition -- and superimposes it on the same old rotten private care system we have now. And it's unfair to peopel on marginal incomes.

I'd prefer the battle be fought on a real basis of the truly universal model that the rest of the industrial world has.

But since they're all too chickenshit about it, at least with Obama's optional qualities, the plan would have some chance of getting passed.

7. Doesn't Obama have a mandate on Children insurance? Enforceable by demand
to pay back premiums is you want insurance?

8. This isn't about what we think
It's about whether Edwards' reasoning is logical. Can any Obamite, besides chanting slurs, show us with facts why Edwards is wrong?

16. You complained that no one discusses the substance of policies
I gave you an example of a policy you mentioned where I agree with Obama more than Edwards.

I also raised it as an example in which Obama might be better able to actually get something passed because of that difference.

If you want a more direct answer, while I won't bash Edwards, I believe he would have to either be naive or cynical to believe that Hillary would be any more committed to or effective on issues than Obama.

4. Like Edwards knows what it takes to be President
He's failed twice at it. Apparently the American people don't think he's tough enough for the job and I'll take their word over whatever John Edwards says.

9. Typical Obamite. Attack Edwards but not even challenge his logical reasoning
Edwards is not stupid. He didn't get to where he is without having a great analytical mind.

13. Really, who cares
Look, John couldn't pull enough votes to be voted the county dog catcher. Hell, I like the guy, but that's just the way it is. Time to live in the present.

18. You really have no idea how many votes
Edwards would have pulled if he had stayed in the race, so I think your "county dog catcher" remark is a little off base. Time for a reality check.

22. Again, that reality thing. John pulled 30% in Iowa
where he had camped out for 4 years. The next highest total was 18% in SC where he was a home-state guy. Everything else was 5% or less. Again, he's a nice enough guy, but he was getting waxed.

24. I'm not disputing that he was behind in the first few states.
What I'm objecting to is your hyperbole -- "couldn't pull enough votes to be voted the county dog catcher." I imagine that he has enough supporters right here on DU that he could have been voted county dog catcher in any county in the country.

Yes.

Sorry, I'm just getting tired of the proliferation of over-the-top comments around here. I'm not on your case, really. Since I don't have a candidate anymore, I should probably stay out of GDP and keep my typing fingers to myself.

if he endorses her he loses all my respect. I he doesn't like or trust Obama then he should just stay out of it.

21. This is an example of what I am talking about
Give us some details to back it up. Obama has taken as much corporate dough as Hillary. Edwards knows this. He doesn't have "hope" and "belief" in Obama. He knows him and knows the facts about him.
