Ending the Debate on Money: Obama gets 99% of his campaign funds from INDIVIDUALS |
|
Link here: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/summary.asp?id=N00009638&cycle=2008And Clinton gets only 90% of her funds from individuals: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/summary.asp?id=N00000019&cycle=2008Can we stop with this B.S. RW argument now. If you are wondering about the corporation breakdown on their moneys, it's about where the INDIVIDUALS work, not where the money comes from.

3. You have to identify your occupation and employer when you donate |
|
That's what's misleading about these campaign contribution sites. "Health care industry" could be executives and lobbyists bundling money, or it could be a bunch of doctors and nurses giving $100 each.

7. No corporation can legally donate. Corporate executives, on the other hand, can and do. |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 02:27 PM by Selatius
Look at John McCain's breakdown. 89% of his donations are from individuals. 99% of Huckabee's donations come from individuals.
The problem with our system is that a pro-corporate news media misinforms or disinforms the public and drags the debate rightward and that the poorest segments of society often can't compete with middle and upper class folks in terms of money they can donate freely. A poor person can't donate 2300 in a year like his boss can.
If there is a fight to be had, it's over policy platforms. Do people here honestly think the current system of campaign financing is fair to the 37,000,000 Americans living below the poverty line?

8. Tell that to the 100's of DUers who believe and spout the b.s. about corporate donations. |
|
It's the system that is wrong, not the individuals who have to participate in it.
