1. So why isn't he in Texas?
Is he afraid he can't win there?

3. Because he doesn't skip states. He wants to win them all.
You'll love it when he goes to Hawaii, I'm sure.

14. Are you kidding?
Do you not see that the REASON Obama is doing well, is because he doesn't have the strategy of "Only the big states count, you don't have to worry about the little people". And, he's continuing on that path with Wisconsin.. just as he did in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Virginia, Alaska.. i could go on.

No - the canidate that YOU support is in Texas, not even bothering to care about the people of Wisconsin (or any other small state). How do you think this will play out even if she DOES win the primary? A lot of people who could care less about her, and won't bother to vote for her.. because their "small state status" isn't important enough for the almight Queen Clinton.

She's shooting herself in the foot in both the primary, and in the off chance she makes it to the General Election with this strategy.

17. Ms Prophet and I are in texas, and are looking forward to seeing both candidates
We are glad that Texas finally matters in a primary, as are many here. But this is more than just about us, or who is up or down. It is about building support in all states if art all practical, and an extension of the 50 state strategy that I think is both strategic and philosophically sound.

You hit an important point about the "little people" wanting to see candidates in their state. Because the primary system is broken, realities of electoral college strategies and lack of publicly financed air time, people are for some attention, real info and personal/group live events. There is a hunger there, and to not address that hunger is to cede many votes from lack of interest.

Any candidate that bases a strategy around narrow "maximum impact markets" is doing citizens a great disservice, and signifies an arrogance and general philosophy of insider power that is antithetical to democracy.

15. Texas is not until March 4th
He will spend plenty of time in Texas and in Ohio, after he wins Wisconsin.

18. Because Wisconsin's primary is in 6 days.
Texas's primary isn't even this month. Obama likes to actually campaign in states that are voting soon.

It's a very odd cult.

10. And this is what we get from our "oversight" committee...
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 03:35 PM by Kristi1696
Umm, aren't there more important things to "oversee" right now? Like how completely inept and fucked up our federal government is right now?

Who gives a shit whether a baseball player may or may not have done HGH or steroids YEARS ago!

This is the second day they spent on this shit. AND they were missing votes on the floor because of it.

13. He needs to take more questions
5 questions isn't that much. Not enough to really be considered a town hall. He also needs to show more curiosity about the people asking him questions, like ask them questions about themselves, you know? He doesn't seem like he cares that much about them.

19. Maybe write his campaign and let them know what you want
I hope to see more, and last week did some massive searches, sifting through the links of edited bits, and found some more.

Here is one of the longest, though cut up into 20 parts (ack) and all MTVgen-ed up.
Don't blame him for the stupid format. ;)

16. Check out his irony - I missed it, and here is why
Because I was in the stupid "twinkie" thread, made by a waay overzealous, (nominal) Obama supporter.
While it was my fault for clicking the damn thing, it points to a problem of bad posts making the respective candidates look bad. Being too fair minded for my own good, I read as the OP defended his use of a slur, claiming it only meant wimp, etc --hey, just like faggot is a bindle of sticks, right? -- and turning off DUers in great number. i finally alerted, and almost left to go do some errands, then saw your post- a very positive "Here is some info" thread, that directly addresses a legit problem some have with Sen Obama, namely the concern that he does not answer enough questions from voters.

I did get to see the last 10 minutes or so, and Obama was addressing openness in govt, that giving all sides a place at the table also came with oversight on c-span. Open meetings, as opposed to closed door meetings - and that also hits on the reaching out to all parties equaling giving it all away, or neo-triangulation. People need to see this.

On the last question, a young Obama supporter gets up to ask a question. Will it be a stupid boxers or briefs question? After all, we know these Obama cultists kids are shallow, right? No. It was an excellent question on the complexities of Darfur. People need to see this.

In his comments, Sen Obama said that we should strive to disagree without being disagreeable, and that in his admin, he will always listen to the people, even those he disagrees with. This is very important, and something that Obama supporters should take heed of. The bad faith arguments and name calling by supporters actually hurts the candidate these "supporters" claim to be aiding.

Thank you for your post, H&C. If you have any sway at all with other Obama supporters on this site or elsewhere, PLEASE pass on the spirit of what I am saying to them.
If you find a link for the replay of this town hall meeting, on CNN or other site, please repost and help drive the bad out by overwhelming it with good solid info.
if I have that link, I will pass on to those who are misinformed, or just have not had the opportunity to see Barack address some key issues.

Thank you, and I look forward to working with you in the future.
