MSNBC Propaganda Report 2-12: The Hillary Turnaround
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 09:44 PM by McCamy Taylor
Remember how I said that MSNBC was only pretending to favor Obama, because their real goal was a brokered Democratic convention? That meant keeping the two Democrats neck and neck all the way to Denver, with a great big food fight on the convention floor that would make Chicago 1968 look like a ladies tea social?

Well, it's Hillary's turn now, everywhere except Countdown . Plans to switch off got moved up a little after last night's shocker. MSNBC is usually careful not to show footage of the Pentagon;s candidate, McCain, since he is his own worst enemy. Instead, their pundits "pimp" him by calling him "maverick", "truth teller", "independent", someone who "gives the finger" to the status quo. However last night, some one (I am betting KO) decided to cut straight from a speech being given by Obama to an adoring crowd of 17,000 to a speech being mumbled by McCain to a comatose gathering of about 250. Or was that 5? Sounded more like 5.

The contrast could not have been more striking. It was clear how this fall's election was going to turn out. Think Jimmy Carter vs. Gerald Ford. Think 1976. When they cut back to the MSNBC pundits, only KO looked happy.

So, today on Hardball the discussion was about how Hillary can get her campaign in gear and catch up with Obama. Only Margaret Carlson, who always seems down on Hillary for some reason, continued the old Big Lie about how Hillary is a Bitch with no heart (in her world, Hillary was not showing emotion in New Hampshire, she was just being a whiny brat who needed a nap.) Everyone else, even Tweety acknowledged that she was a warm, caring women with real plans for America, who had now seized the all important (for Democrats) underdog status that was sure to help her win Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania---if the folks at MSNBC just keep giving her a few more weeks of this kind of glowing coverage.

Oh man.

Countdown was a whole other matter. KO is now an Obama believer. He knows that Obama can defeat McCain, and he is not letting Hillary get in his way. He announced that Hillary had issued the first negative ad of the season (gasp) something in which she compares herself and Obama on the issues and then asks why he will not debate her. (Ooooo. She must have hired the Swiftboat vets when no one was looking. Do I need to insert a sarcasm emoticon here? Naw. I think it is implied) He compared Hillary to Rudi Guiliani, because she is having to wait until Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania for her next wins. (Remember how Rudi chose to wait until Florida to enter the race? That is how he slipped in the comparison.)

I will now insert an emoticon, something I rarely do when writing.

:puke:

Luckily, the fairest, smartest, sanest and fastest to denounce media bias journalist at MSNBC, Richard Wolfe was there to slap KO's hand (in his mild mannered way) , reminding him that the Hillary Clinton camp would not approve of the comparison.

Yes, it is true that Obama is uniquely qualified to demolish poor old McCain, but interfering in the Democratic primary is a no no, which will only lead to infighting between the various factions of the base and charges of media bias. I know that KO just wants the Dems to win (or the GOP to lose more likely and the 100 years of war to end) but some people might think he is being sexist or something.

I switched the channel when Abrams came on with a big title flashed across the screen. I think it read something like Can Hillary Turnaround ?. I am pretty sure that MSNBC will be doing its best to see it happen in the days to come.
