For all you folks who want to vote McCain JUST TO SHOW THE DEMOCRATS |
|
I have no patience with you and I wish you would post your tripe on some other message board.
Have you not suffered enough under the last Republican regime?
Aren't you sick that gas was $1.47 a gallon (on the high end) when the shrubito took office?
Have you no regret that thousands and thousands of lives and our sacred liberties have been lost in the name of fightin' terra?
Have you no concern that the gap between the haves and have-nots continues to widen?
Are you happy that help for public and college education has been preempted to give subsidies to giant corporations?
Do you want more coal-burning plants? Less investment in your children's future? More debt to China?
The horrendous list in one of America's worst chapters in history goes on and on.
So if this is your idea of how good America can be, then get the hell out of here.
We are DEMOCRATS and after all the infighting is done, we WILL get out to the polls and vote for the DEMOCRATIC candidate, with clothespins if necessary, BUT WE WON'T VOTE FOR FUCKING McCAIN!
So just get the hell off our board and quit taking up space.

I don't even tell people I see face-to-face who I voted for because I'm gonna vote for whichever Democrat wins. And I'll GLADLY do it, either way.

I have been amassing screenshots of people saying that.
One individual was so adamant s/he said that their goal would be to destroy the Democratic party if <preferred candidate> did not get the nomination.
Individual edited their post, twice, but I managed to get screenshots of both and sent them to mods.
Not banned, so I can't name names.

2. There is only one way I can envision voting Republican: |
|
If the Superdelegates go against the will of the people or if Michigan is allowed to seat its delegates as is and that decides the contest.

18. Personally, I won't vote Republican in that situation. |
|
I won't vote for Hillary if she takes the nomination like that either, though. I will just not vote at all, for the first time in my adult life. I refuse to support any candidate who makes it clear that their ego and ambitions are more important than the will of a majority of Democratic voters.
Some principles matter more than blind loyalty to a political party. If you'll support the Democratic nominee no matter what, even if the nomination is seriously tainted by backroom politics that disregard the clear will of the voters, then good for you...but I'd question whether you can call yourself a (small D) democrat.

"Some principles matter more than blind loyalty to a political party." I want more people like that in our party, not fewer.
I am 99.9% sure I will vote for the Democratic nominee, but I don't want the candidates or the insiders at the convention to take my vote for granted. I want them to believe that HOW they select a nominee is more important than WHICH nominee they select. They are both great candidates, neither can survive a nomination process that leaves one half of our party disillusioned.

'any candidate who makes it clear that their ego and ambition are more important than the will of a majority of Democratic voters'...what part of that is insufficiently clear? If Obama won the nomination in such a manner, I wouldn't support him, either.

I'm into the politics of democratic selection of candidates. I see you have a problem with that. Rudeness and condescenscion don't much help whatever argument you're trying to make, though.

What an undemocratic process, and it is sad that this is in the Democratic party. I'd expect shit like this in the Republican party.

But you don't sit here and belly ache about it too late when the election season is upon us.
It doesn't make any sense.
It's too late and its the rules.

13. Hope that those were just isolated mental cases |

It is very apparent that something exciting is happening and I am catching the Obama fever myself. His speech from last night was terrific and the evidence at the polls reflect that he is winning the trust of a broad spectrum of the electorate. John McCain, on the other hand, has totally embraced the Bush doctrine of ushering the nation into bankruptcy and being satisfied with America being labeled a rogue state. Questions for anyone who supports McCain: Did Iraq attack us or did we attack Iraq? Did Iraq threaten us or did we threaten Iraq? Do you stand by the tax cuts and record deficits of George Bush or do you repudiate them now? The only thing John McCain has going for him is that he was once a POW and that doesn't qualify you for more than our heartfelt thanks and sympathy.

15. And let's not forget the "I'm staying home on election day" folks |
|
Would I prefer Edwards or Kucinich? You bet. Do I think I'm going to be pounding much pavement for either of these moderates? Not bloody likely. But come on, you have to vote for the nominee. If I could do it in 1988 when I voted for Dukakis in my first presidential election, you can do it, too!
Oh, and did I mispell Kucinich and Dukakis, or is this a republican spell checker?
