McCain Votes Against Waterboarding Ban.
The desperation is in the air. McCain has finally sold the last bit of his soul for his shot at the presidency.

"Mr. McCain, a former prisoner of war, has consistently voiced opposition to waterboarding and other methods that critics say is a form torture. But the Republicans, confident of a White House veto, did not mount the challenge. Mr. McCain voted “no” on Wednesday afternoon."

There is no way to nuance this. I can't believe that he thinks this will play well in the fall, when the Dem nominee shows clips of all of his high and mighty speeches condemning this torture and then showing his vote. He has totally morphed into Bush.

3. Agreed. That was the last thing that keep him from actually "being" Bush. Now,
he has sold out his own values and beliefs in desperation. Frankly, I do think he was a war hero, and it is just sad that he has come to this.

2. Well, that's nice ...

I have a friend who so hates both Hillary and Obama that he's said he'll vote for McCain because "at least he'd ban torture like waterboarding."

He'll enjoy this.

4. This is to fortify his right wing flank. Incredible -- he is the presumptive nominee,
yet he does not have his own people in line yet.

A sad day for John McCain.

8. I'm not sure it will fortify him, though. At least, I don't believe him. Of course, I
think a little more rationally and logically than that right flank.

10. I've had this vision for a campaign ad - generic for any Democrat. Just
show pictures of the war, a graph of the stock market, or the falling housing market, the unemployment office, a forclosure sign and then that Bush/McCain picture. Fade to caption: Pictures speak louder than words.

Are there more?

9. it is just unbelievable to me
that anyone in this country who is paying attention could support a Republican, and this is a perfect example of how bizarre their thinking is.

Keeping handing us gifts, McCain.

I guess he's really worried about his base, but he'd better worry about vast majority of voters who aren't in his base.

14. For McCain, who was tortured, to do this, shows that he has sold what remained of his withered soul.
What a sick joke.

16. Grandpa McCain is trying to grow some ultra conservative balls.
Next he'll be rounding up Pedro for all the wingnuts to see. He might be old as petrified wood, but he'll be a "manly man" the right can love - war, torture, hate (the Republican mantra). The campaign commercials are writing themselves.
