Sen. Clinton's Robstown, TX rally - pics (dial-up warning)
Just to be different, some simple photos showing everyday people getting involved to support their candidate. No bad comments about Sen. Obama in my OP, just some photos from a sunny February morning in south Texas.

On 13 February, Senator Clinton made three campaign stops in Texas: McAllen, Robstown and San Antonio. Living in Corpus Christi, we attended the rally in Robstown.

Not knowing what to expect, Mrs. qnr and I figured it was safe to wait until an hour or so before Hillary was scheduled to speak. Not the best of moves, since many hundreds of people had started camping out at the regional fairgrounds where she was appearing, hours and hours before the doors were to open. When we arrived, at approximately noon, we were greeted by a line that stretched from the door of the auditorium, through the sidewalks and out to the parking lot, and then snaked through every lane of the lot. Didn't look promising - there was no way we were going to get through that queue in an hour. We didn't, of course, but Hillary held off on the start of her speech and officials opened up the auxiliary buildings, allowing the overflow in to them. We only had audio, but that was fine.

The crowd was very large and very enthusiastic, repeatedly cheering and clapping during her speech. They were a little subdued while she was discussing immigration, but otherwise were pretty wild. It was well worth the trip and the wait. I'm not a reporter, so you'll have to check out the online resources for details about everything :)

Here are some photos from the event, they are all links to the full sized photos, if you click on them. You can find about 1,300 others (very few of Hillary unfortunately) on my Flicker photostream ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/qnr ) - if you know people that went and would like to find photos of themselves, have them stop by. All of my photos are licensed under the Creative Commons and are freely available for downloading at all sizes - just understand that I'm not a professional photographer... I just take pictures.

Quite the Queue
That's just one very tiny section of the line.

Waiting Patiently
For many years now.

A Giant Snake
Started at the door, worked its way to the parking lot, and then snaked through all of the lanes of the parking lot.

Some of the Overflow
The main crowd was in a different building that took around five or six thousand. Then there were two overflow buildings which only had audio piped in, with a few thousand more - and there were others outside, too.

Can You See Her Yet?
Wanted to see if she could see Hillary in the LCD of my camera, stretched above my head.

Three shots of Hillary
Got there late, stuck in the overflow, I only had a chance to see her while she was shaking hands on her way out.

(I think my camera is getting a once-over by the female agent with the dark hair in this one)

18. That is cool ... great photos
Great to see the participatory part of the Dem campaigns at work. Bill Clinton's rolling through East Texas on Friday and will be up here in Texarkana (second time in a couple weeks).

I'm hoping Obama gets down here to NE Texas soon!

that really ensured that they got posted here on DU.

:hi: - bleagh, I hate that "Mrs. qnr" bit, it sounds so possessive :) but I have no idea how else to phrase it

39. That is so very beautiful to see, qnr. Isn't it nice to have presidential candidates in TX again?
Not since the brilliant and gracious Ann Richards have I seen such enthusiasm here.
Hope to see both Senators Clinton and Obama when they make it to DFW area.

History unfolding before our eyes - a very good thing!
It is literally making this 50 yr old man mist up.

Thank you for recording that.
