10. Exit Polls from recent contests indicated those who voted
for Barack did so because he can "bring change" while those who voted for Hillary cited her "experience", the "economy" and "health care".

Name me ONE election where the politician hasn't promised to Change The Tone in Washington and then failed spectacularly to deliver. It's promised every Election Cycle and people fall for it hook, line and sinker every damn time. If that's all Barack is selling, those voting need to take a closer look at HOW he will change it and WHAT he will DO to change it and how, in the past, has he shown leadership on this issue. It'll take more than a big smile and a charming personality to deal with the entrenched egos in DC.

Changing the Tone in Washington is a bit like herding a huge horde of over-caffeinated cats into a tiny box made of fragile cobwebs, or something. Ain't gonna happen.

which is doable, there is a good chance that he will lose the congress in 2010 when he gets nothing done. Clinton tried this "let's all get along" crap back in 92'-94' and it was a proven failure.
Play hardball with your opponents, use the bully-pulpit of the Presidency to get legislation passed into law.

38. I can't think of a single one...
of Hillary's accomplishments. As far as change goes, and the demand to know how that is going to be effected, I think one only has to look at his campaign to get an understanding of how that might happen. By the same token, Hillary's campaigning style does not exude confidence in her ability to do much of anything. There is plenty of information available to anyone who wants to see the policies and ideas that Obama has for the future. There is plenty of information available to anyone who wants to view his accomplishments. If anyone has any questions and is truly interested in the answers they can easily find them.

41. that's really sad
Not a single accomplishment? It's not difficult to find a fairly lengthy list, actually. And with your obvious copy-and-paste talent, I trust you'll find what you need. But here's something to start you off with:

Clinton co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, a state-level alliance with the Children's Defense Fund, in 1977.

President Jimmy Carter appointed her to the board of directors of the Legal Services Corporation (from 1978 through the end of 1981) and for much of that time she served as the chair of that board, the first woman to do so. During her time as chair, funding for the Corporation was expanded from $90 million to $300 million, and she successfully battled against President Ronald Reagan's initial attempts to reduce the funding and change the nature of the organization.

Chair of the Rural Health Advisory Committee, where she successfully obtained federal funds to expand medical facilities in Arkansas' poorest areas without affecting doctors' fees.

Chaired the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee from 1982 to 1992, where she sought to bring about reform in the state's court-sanctioned public education system, fighting a prolonged but ultimately successful battle against the Arkansas Education Association to put mandatory teacher testing as well as state standards for curriculum and classroom size in place.

And a bit of stuff from the White House years:

Along with Senator Ted Kennedy, she was the major force behind the State Children's Health Insurance Program in 1997, a federal effort that provided state support for children whose parents were unable to provide them with health coverage.

She also promoted nationwide immunization against childhood illnesses and encouraged older women to seek a mammogram to detect breast cancer, with coverage provided by Medicare as well as successfully seeking to increase research funding for prostate cancer and childhood asthma at the National Institutes of Health.

She also worked to investigate reports of an illness that affected veterans of the Gulf War, which became known as the Gulf War syndrome. Together with Attorney General Janet Reno, she helped create the Office on Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice and, in 1997, she initiated and shepherded the Adoption and Safe Families Act, which she regarded as her greatest accomplishment as First Lady.

23. A bit about his record, from Obama's web site
http://www.barackobama.com/learn/meet_barack.php

In the Illinois State Senate, this meant working with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars.

26. Yes he has a record. So what?
Most of it is generic and just like all the others. WHAT has he done specifically to "CHANGE" from what most other politicians have done or are doing? WHAT earth shattering legislation, policy, or accomplishment that is so "DIFFERENT" than 100's of others? There is NOTHING in his record that indicates the level of his "CHANGEOMANIA" that is being regurgitated by the whole universe.

35. Here you go
There's a reason we like him here in Illinois

Judge Him by His Laws

By Charles Peters
Friday, January 4, 2008; Page A21

People who complain that Barack Obama lacks experience must be unaware of his legislative achievements. One reason these accomplishments are unfamiliar is that the media have not devoted enough attention to Obama's bills and the effort required to pass them, ignoring impressive, hard evidence of his character and ability.

Since most of Obama's legislation was enacted in Illinois, most of the evidence is found there -- and it has been largely ignored by the media in a kind of Washington snobbery that assumes state legislatures are not to be taken seriously. (Another factor is reporters' fascination with the horse race at the expense of substance that they assume is boring, a fascination that despite being ridiculed for years continues to dominate political journalism.)

I am a rarity among Washington journalists in that I have served in a state legislature. I know from my time in the West Virginia legislature that the challenges faced by reform-minded state representatives are no less, if indeed not more, formidable than those encountered in Congress. For me, at least, trying to deal with those challenges involved as much drama as any election. And the "heart and soul" bill, the one for which a legislator gives everything he or she has to get passed, has long told me more than anything else about a person's character and ability.

58. perhaps you didn't click on the link
more from same article:

Consider a bill into which Obama clearly put his heart and soul. The problem he wanted to address was that too many confessions, rather than being voluntary, were coerced -- by beating the daylights out of the accused.

Obama proposed requiring that interrogations and confessions be videotaped.

This seemed likely to stop the beatings, but the bill itself aroused immediate opposition. There were Republicans who were automatically tough on crime and Democrats who feared being thought soft on crime. There were death penalty abolitionists, some of whom worried that Obama's bill, by preventing the execution of innocents, would deprive them of their best argument. Vigorous opposition came from the police, too many of whom had become accustomed to using muscle to "solve" crimes. And the incoming governor, Rod Blagojevich, announced that he was against it.

<snip>

Obama proved persuasive enough that the bill passed both houses of the legislature, the Senate by an incredible 35 to 0. Then he talked Blagojevich into signing the bill, making Illinois the first state to require such videotaping.

Obama didn't stop there. He played a major role in passing many other bills, including the state's first earned-income tax credit to help the working poor and the first ethics and campaign finance law in 25 years (a law a Post story said made Illinois "one of the best in the nation on campaign finance disclosure"). Obama's commitment to ethics continued in the U.S. Senate, where he co-authored the new lobbying reform law that, among its hard-to-sell provisions, requires lawmakers to disclose the names of lobbyists who "bundle" contributions for them.

Taken together, these accomplishments demonstrate that Obama has what Dillard, the Republican state senator, calls a "unique" ability "to deal with extremely complex issues, to reach across the aisle and to deal with diverse people." In other words, Obama's campaign claim that he can persuade us to rise above what divides us is not just rhetoric.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/03/AR2008010303303.html

Obama has been and continues to be a strong advocate for transparency in government. This is important to me. That and the fact that he seems unusually adept at convincing opponents that what he proposes is to everyone's advantage. So -- not an average politician, in my opinion.

27. Try these on for Obama - And read Hillary and Bill's "accomplishments"!
When you look at what Obmama has said and stood for - Not going to War - Pushing for help for Homeless Veterans - Standing up to Condi Rice and the Bush Administration on Blackwater - Introducing and moving through a Bill that stops Lobbyists in their deceitful practices. For this and his stand on Health Care, working together with all parties, pushing for help with global poverty, and making us a power for good in the World once again I stand tall for Obama!

http://obama.senate.gov/

Yes, he is a brilliant speaker and that is a wonderful attribute to the younger members of our country. If you ask me I would rather be hearing him giving me the information on our country then listening to Hillary and her secretiveness that I feel came out in the early part of her run for the nomination and then when she saw it didn't work she changed.

Hillary and Bill have more baggage too! They have the following:

Since Hillary has said she has 35 years of accomplishments and ties this to Bill's tail - let's take a look at what they have accomplished:

NAFTA, CAFTA, Communications Bill of 1996 Act, and outsourcing money to India -
Her vote against the people and for the Corporations in the Bankruptcy Bill -
Voting for the Iraq War to invade - not to help protect the troops after they are all ready there -
And not least: Her vote of the so-called "Lieberman-Kyl" resolution on Iran.

36. The election is about the future
Not about the Past.

This contest is about looking to a new future.

Voters have seen the past(Hillary)and are choosing a new direction.

The fact that voters prefer an untested newcomer to a White House veteran, speaks more to Hillary's failings than to

Obama's abilities.

43. Hannity does that "name an accomplishment" crap...
ALL of the time on his radio show to Clinton supporters. It doesn't matter what is said...he attacks them anyway. Stop posting right wing trash on this site.

45. The fact that people are so obsessed with hating a candidate that they use FOX News as a source
... my gods what the hell have we become.

Yes, imagine my shock that Hannity has a group of morons on his show to make all things democratic look bad. I mean, imagine! No, not FOX News! Not those bastions of truth and accuracy.

I remember a time at DU where people cared more about the truth than they did about some "game" where they and "their person" have to "win." I remember when DU used to mock free republic and these kinds of tactics used by their members rather than gleefully engage in them.

Here's a more typical Obama supporter:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=kica8hmSdAM

I have posted over and over and over and over again in my own words, my clear specific reasons for supporting Obama - with substance about his policy proposals, accomplishments and issues. And yet it doesn't matter. Because you don't care. You ignore it and information like it from other supporters, and continue to post the same old crap: he has no accomplishments, he has no substance, don't confuse me with the facts because I like my talking point. That's you.

Frankly, I'm getting really sick of people who camp at GD: P and make it their goal to twist, distort or outright lie to smear the "other guy." Either way -- against Clinton or Obama. It's just ridiculous. And I'm fed up.

46. His accomplishments have been listed here many times
But the meme will live on. I view it as a good thing. It's a chance to once again list his accomplishments. It's awesome to be an Obama supporter.

It's one of his regular shitty segments. He could easily do this to Clinton supporters.

60. Hannity lies on screen, DU'er repeats lies...
Even though *anybody* can look at that video themselves, and hear:
1. Community Organizer.
2. Working with the Elderly
3. Government Reform
4. The "Oratator" Guy
5. Congressional Reform

Hannity then declares such things as not specific enough, when they weren't given enough *time* in their response to actually be specific.
