To both Clinton and Obama supporters....
If your candidate doesn't win the nomination before or at the convention, I want you to think about a few things before you stomp off and refuse to take part in democracy anymore because your candidate didn't win...

Think about the lack of aggressive federally sponsored stem cell research, about abstinence only programs, faith tinged foreign aid, looking the other way almost all the time when ever a public official skirted close to the edge or went blatantly over the edge, the kind of cronyism that puts profits before people, weak enforcement of environmental laws, executive decisions, board appointees, judicial appointees, a politicized Justice Department, a politicized EPA, a politicized Nation Health Agency, OSHA regulations ignored, lax meat and other agricultural inspections...

These are just a smpling of all of the little things that happened while we all concentrated on 9/11, Iraq and Gitmo...

All of this was done by a republican hierarchy that respects only one thing: money...

If you want this raping of the USofA to continue, put your head in the sand if your candidate doesn't win...

And if enough democrats take that approach, then all of the stuff that goes on behind the scenes will continue, morf into something unstoppable for our democracy...

We are on the cusp...

If we choose to ignore the near future under another republican regime, then we will get what we deserve...

All we will have left is bitching on sites like DU or taking it to the streets...

For me, both candidates are far superior to anything the GOP has to offer via rhetoric or candidate...

I will support whom ever wins the nomination regardless of my personal feelings...

I will carry no animosity with me into November...

I will fight for a democratic president to be sworn in come January...

I refuse to let my country be raped and pillaged any more...

1. We cannot allow another 4 years of a Republican regime.
Nope. Nope. Nope.

How do we get everyone to understand this?

5. Did you read his post?
Do you really want the Republicans to go on destroying our country?

Either one of our candidates, no matter what you think of them, is better than anything the Republicans have to offer...

6. Just a question....
Then why are you active on Democratic Underground...

There are several independent sites out there for you to do battle...

If you can't pledge to support the candidate of the Democratic party then, I hate to offer such an oft repeated rebuttal, you are part of the problem...

8. That poll is basically useless....
Obama hasn't suffered the slings and arrows of the GOP attack machine...

After a few months of pounding, his numbers will slip...

Unless McCain steps up like he protrays himself, and disavows such taticts...

But we know how much McCain stood up to Bush in 2000, so I wouldn't count on that...

I think Obama can carry all the states that Hillary claims Matter - NY, MA, CA in the general

but she can't carry what he can carry.

That is a pretty strong argument that the way to win is Obama in November.

14. The evidence is starting to point that my Premise is right
I'm not saying it's overwhelming yet. Or that a campaign wont have changes, ups downs, etc.

But there are some pretty strong indicators that she is very weak among independents in swing states - again - perhaps not all her fault - but real nonetheless.

Obama however is showing surprising strength among independents in a GE match up against McCain - because McCain is also "Status Quo Washington" (SQW) - and if you haven't noticed... there are few people out there who ain't that pleased with SQW.

17. All of this is before the GE campaign has started.
He has a lot of appeal because no one knows him. When R. 527s start running ads warning people about the "half-Muslim" Barack Hussein Obama, it will stick regardless of how idiotic it is.

22. I'm dubios - because the MSM has already Anti-swift-boated him
I'm not saying it's fair.

I think the MSM has an irrational love-affair with Obama. But they have already put out a huge number of pieces of material that go directly against the "Half Muslim" smear for example.

I'm an Obama supporter who is actually quite please that the MSM loves him. I know it's not fair they hate Hillary so much - but it is a real advantage.

Same issue with Hillary - she says she's vetted - but the MSM hates her - and will blow any new quasi scandal into a tornado - so she stands a greater chance of getting torpoedoed than Obama. Again - not claiming this is fair - just that it is real.

23. All I can do at this point is hope you are right.
Obviously, I'm a little scared of McCain's million-year troop commitment and his complete ignorance of economic matters.

I really don't think either candidate will have a slam dunk in November.

Until the GE campaign starts in earnest, there is no real way to predict who will do well where against McC.

13. Really?
I don't think it's that hard to understand.

Especially in swing states CLinton is very weak against the Re-Pugs. I'm not saying it's her fault - but it's a fact.

She will unite and energize the right-wing base.

Sure - she can win California and Massachusetts in the general - but any Democrat could do that. That won't win the GE.

9. Nothing can keep me away in November.
Well, maybe a river of lava surrounding the polling station might keep me away. Or being hit with a meteror. That would do it. On the other hand a mere Biblical plague of frogs would not prevent me.

My level of enthusiasm won't be as much is HRC is the nominee. But there's no way I would do anything that might hurt the Dems chances to take back the White House.

26. Great Post
I love the line "I will carry no animosity with me into November". That is true wisdom.

And I feel the same way. Whoever the Democratic nominee is, will get my vote - - because I understand that we all need to stand together in order to stop the Republicans. And fractured, we will NOT beat them.

And...for me, at least...it's the Supreme Court, Stupid.
