Romney just threw his Delegates to McCain.

This of course puts McCain 60 Delegates short of the Nomination. The problem with this? We're still in a round for round fight to find our nominee and the Republicans basically have theirs. (I know they already did - but this is different, in that the Media will pretty much stop talking about Huckabee and Ron Paul - and this gives McCain the 'bully pulpit' for the time being to rally against our party in general, if not our nominee).

I won't lie, I'm an Obama supporter - but, regardless of WHO gets our nomination, I hope it happens soon. Because now, the game has truly changed.

1. The more he rallies, the more he looks like a Bob Dole loser. He looks old.
Compare him to Hillary or Obama.

2. Not the point - even though I agree
His looking old is actually an attraction to some. His heavy military career also an attraction. His 'maverick' status (regardless if its a media fabrication or not) an attraction. Right now, all we're about is Clinton vs. Obama - the Republicans can now be "McCain vs. the Democrats.." - see the difference?

3. I basically agree, but there's another way to look at it
The 'exciting' Dem race will basically keep McCain out of the news for awhile, while Dem issues and ideas get aired, and our candidates get more free airtime. Just a thought.

4. Valid alternative perspective..
Of course, I trust the media as far as I can throw it.. and I'm a big guy, I could probably chuck Chrissy Matthews a good 15 feet or so ;)

6. I'm not surprised. Here's why I think he did it.
He had to stop the pundits from talking about how Huckabee is going around getting votes and building some kind of coalition for the future.

Now all the talk will be about McCain being within 60 delegates of locking it up.

And Romney can start building a coalition for 2012. Romney is in "Reagan '76" mode now.

7. True..
Also, if McCain makes a '1 term pledge' and picks Romney as his VP, that makes his 'coalition building' that much easier for 2012, win or lose.

8. Good point. I'd be surprised if McCain picks him, but you are certainly
right in your analysis if that happens.

9. McCain's not going to pick another old guy, for sure.
I think he'd either pick Romney or some other 'youngish, moderate appearing' republican. I think McCain will 'run to the right' trying to regain those Conservatives who are disillusioned with him for the time being - while letting his VP play more to the center. Republicans who are all anti-McCain right now are going to change their tune real fast once the General Election is upon us. We can't forget that.

10. Alaska Republicans are not going to be happy with that.
Romney got 44% here, followed by Huck, Paul, and McCain dead last. It will be enjoyable to revel in their discomfort.

11. Kicking because its important
I don't kick threads often - but I think this is important for us to understand the implications of.

12. I heard he didn't throw his delegates to McCain
He put them on top of his station wagon and drove them there.
