February 14, 2008 - National Presidential Preferences

The following results are based on nationwide telephone samples of 600 likely Democratic primary voters and 600 likely Republican primary voters (those saying they have or will definitely vote in a primary or participate in a caucus in 2008) conducted February 9-13, 2008. The theoretical margin of error for each sample is plus or minus 4 percentage points, 95% of the time.

Support for Barack Obama has increased 20 percentage points in the past month and Obama now leads Hillary Clinton 47% to 45%.

Obama leads Clinton among men 50% to 41%. In January, Clinton was leading Obama 43% to 28% among men. Clinton leads Obama among women 49% to 44%. In January, Clinton was leading Obama 50% to 27% among women. Among Democrats (82% of likely national Democratic primary voters), Clinton leads Obama 48% to 45%. Among independents, Obama leads Clinton 57% to 33%.
