At the end of the primary season.. both Clinton and Obama are withing 25 delegates of each other.. both over 200 away from the total needed to get the nomination.. within 2% of the net total primary vote, and chaos looms with both sides dug in.. I would hope both would see the need to unite and following the examples of Kennedy/Johnson, Reagan/Bush .. form a united ticket with the top slot going to WHO EVER had the most PLEDGED delegates going into the convention.. BUT I am an idealist.. so I know THAT will never happen... What do we do in the advent of my big fear????

3. The winner only needs 50 per cent |

Edwards only has 26 delegates. Clinton or Obama should get to 50 % The 210 delegates from Florida and the 156 delegates from Michigan should be deducted from the 4049 total delegates to 3683 total delegates meaning that the magic number should be 1842 instead of 2025.
There has not been much talk about lowering the number, but since Michigan and Florida do not count, the number of delegates is lower, and the 50% needed to get the nomination should be lower.
