Mike and the Mad Dog endorses Blue America’s Jim Himes
You’ve got to hand it to Chris (blogger rage) Shays and the Republicans on this one. They take a non-partisan issue, and turn it into a partisan defense of Roger Clemens and inflame one of NY’s (and the nation’s) biggest sports talk shows “Mike and the Mad Dog.” Chris Russo lives in Shays district (voted for him once) and was so incensed by Crazy Shaysie’s antics that he’s going to help Jim Himes get elected.

Mad Dog: “Here’s the thing about Shays. I’m gonna go out of my way in November. We’re gonna get him the hell out of Connecticut. We’re gonna get Himes in there.”

This is great news for Himes because Mike & Mad Dog own drive time radio on the AM dial in the NY/CT area.

From my left nutmeg:

Once again, Chris Shays embarrasses the state of Connecticut with one of the most embarrassing tirades to date. Our congressman from the fourth district took grandstanding to a whole new level with his browbeating of Roger Clemens trainer Brian McNamee during today's House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on steroids in baseball.

on note:
I think this is great. Lots of people listen to sports radio in the morning and I've heard of these two guys -- I live in Korea, so they must be a pretty big deal if I've heard of them out here.
They speak to a very large audience in the region and hitting on Shays day-after-day will most likely take its toll on his campaign.
Why?
Because these guys are not considered partisan. It's not like listening to Capt Oxycotin or Michael Weiner. So, if these guys are blasting Shays then he's getting blasted by popular, non-partisan personalities.

1. Mike and the Mad Dog, and WFAN in general, did some great reporting after 9/11

For a couple of weeks after 9/11, the WFAN hosts put sports-talk aside to focus on 9/11. They knew their stuff. I preferred listening to WFAN rather than the so-called "news" radio stations.
