The Rude Pundit: Hillary Clinton's Rove Has Destroyed Her
Hillary Clinton makes it so easy to dislike her when she says, as she did yesterday regarding Barack Obama's candidacy: "Speeches don't put food on the table. Speeches don't fill up your tank, or fill your prescription, or do anything about that stack of bills that keeps you up at night...There’s a big difference between us — speeches versus solutions. Talk versus action. You know, some people may think words are change. But you and I know better. Words are cheap." So that's where her argument now rests: Hillary Clinton is the kid who always whines that only the popular people get to be on the student council.

She seems to be channeling this fat fuck (having a problem displaying image, you can click the link at the bottom of the post to see it -- meegbear.)

Close your eyes. Imagine him in high school. Imagine him saying exactly what Hillary Clinton said yesterday. Got it? Makes you wanna give him a wedgie yourself, doesn't it? And, yep, it pretty much explains Clinton's "strategy": Revenge of the Nerds.

That's Mark Penn, who, as the Rude Pundit and many, many others have said, is a fuckin' charlatan of the Bob Shrum School of Political Consultancy for Pathetic Losers. Here's a quote from page 3 of his tome Microtrends, written with E. Kinney Zalesne, part of that pseudo-Malcolm Gladwell (but not as clever) type of book of shit-what-I-pulled-together-to-explain-the-world:
"There is perhaps no feeling more acute than being left out. Everyone remembers what it felt like not to be picked for a sports team, or to be excluded from a friends' night out, or to be the only one not invited to a wedding. What compounds the angst, of course, is the injustice - why me? I am a better ballplayer, a more loyal friend, a more gregarious guest - and yet I'm the one left out." It's pretty much exactly what Clinton said. This segues, really, into a discussion of trends in an attempt to explain why women are single.

It's sad, really, how badly Penn wants to be Karl Rove when he's just, at the end of the day, like every cartoon villain who thinks he can control dark forces that will make him blow up or become a dessicated corpse. In Penn's case, let's go with "blow up."

And so it's even sadder that Hillary Clinton invested so much of her presidential ambitions in this wannabe intellectual, this bloated boob, who says smart sounding things like calling groups of people shit like "Impressionable Elites" and "Permissive Parents," spouting vaguely coherent pop sociology like, "Numbers help you land on something that is incontrovertibly true." Well, that is until they don't.

The reason that Barack Obama has a movement behind him is that he went for a unifying movement. Clinton, listening to Penn, who saw how Rove eked out "wins" through targeting small, specific groups, is now in the position of trying to string together the Caffeine Crazies and the Unisexuals and the Working Retired into a crazy patchwork of a majority while creating the illusion of a movement.

It ain't gonna work. And, while the Rude Pundit believes Clinton needs to bail now on the race for the nomination, if she wants to have any chance at all, she needs to hang this Penn bastard up like a pinata and give her staff long sticks.

(By the way, don't write to tell the Rude Pundit that the "nerds" get to grow up to be Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or some such shit. Most of the nerds you knew in high school are working at Best Buy to pay off their student loans.)

9. my comment isn't really about Mark Penn.
It's about Democrats being called "nerds" and fantasizing about giving them wedgies. You know, the kind of crap that put Bush in the white house in 2000.

18. This is about Penn, not about Democrats.
He's a paid consultant - IOW, a mercenary, and holds all the loyalties you'd expect of a mercenary. And MERCENARIES are who put Bush in the WH in 2000.

5. Seems to me Obama's campaign takes Dr. Dean's "50-State Strategy" to heart
while the Clinton camp merely pays lip service to it.

This thinking prompted me to vote for Obama in the NY primary (I originally tilted toward Edwards)

6. We going to win this, and I and many millions will be happy but
sad too knowing that most of the obama folks here at the 11th hour are trying to convince others that if they do not support obama then they are a bigot and worse yet, a racist. Such low life's are these type people....

I do not and will not support obama in the primaries because I truly believe he is not qualified to be president. Oh I know he can tell me all day through his oratory he is but, there is a hell of a lot of difference between sweet words and having the aptitude for the job.....

8. And what makes you think that Hillary has the
aptitude for the job? Because she was married to a president? That's not a qualification, that's a marital status.

10. There is no truth to what you are saying
You never respond because you know you are wrong. You have some serious issues regarding race that you are trying to blame on Obama.

It's sad to watch you do this.

7. Mark Penn was one of the key reasons I chose Obama in January after waiting out all of 2007.
I posted throughout 2007 that I was concerned about Mark Penn's position with the Clintons. I figured it to be more of a friendly tip of the hat to him as they had many honorary positions for their friends. I figured that it would be Bill himself with Carville working behind the curtain running the campaign. How wrong I was! As the campaign progressed, it became clear to this dummy (that would be me) that Penn was really an instrument of power within the campaign. And by fall I was calling for Hillary to fire him or "lose him" as I put it back then.

Penn's "divide and conquer" and 50+1 approaches never expected an opponent who could actually grow the voting base and raise money from the grass roots that have now broken every record in national politics. Penn has not only wasted Hillary's shot at the nomination, but has left her so wounded that even if they could pull a card trick and win it by manipulating the process and super delegates, her nomination would be meaningless.

Mark Penn should work for the Republicans. He is polar opposite of who we are as Democrats. He is a cock roach.

13. That guy is a mess
Literally. I know it is shallow to pick on someone because of looks but for crying out loud he looks horrible. He looks like he is stroking RIGHT NOW!

That being said..I don't know what it is like NOT to get picked. Not that I was King of the prom or anything I was middle of the pack I guess. I always got picked. And this shows how the DLC types (Rude is dead on about trying to win tiny battles and ekeing out "wins") are just like the Republicans. Talk radio is founded on just that-getting the guy pissed off at work and his wife and his life and sitting in traffic fired up and turning that rage towards the ever evil LIBERALS. Why? Because they are "elite" (not the rightwing funding sources of course) and THEY used to make fun of him (didn't pick him) behind his pack, the paranoid speech follows from there.

About ekeing out wins-this also is born of being losers to start with. See Penn and Shrum for examples. If you don't try to reach out to people and at least show that you are willing to reach out you can never have your hand ignored...like back in school.

Sad tragic people.

destroyed by the RW political machine because of Penn's ineptitude.
