Bob Kerrey on Florida: "No new vote and no new caucuses, either"
Very interesting. Hillary supporter Bob Kerrey, who took some heat earlier for his comments on Obama, now may be taking some heat from the Hillary camp after completely undercutting her argument on Florida and Michigan. Nice to see him talking some sense finally.

http://www.thevillager.com/villager_250/scoopysnotebook.html

“You don’t change the rules in the middle of the game. Period,” said former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey, The New School’s president, when asked if the delegates from the Florida and Michigan primaries should be represented at the Democratic National Convention in August. Scoopy ran into Kerrey on Sunday at Chelsea Piers, where Kerrey had taken his young son and a friend bowling. “No new vote and no new caucuses, either. Just stick to the rules that they agreed to,” Kerrey said firmly.

This position is tougher than even the Obama campaign's position, which is in favor of new caucuses.

1. Then Florida is SOL
and hopefully he's voted out of office because he caused millions of Floridians have no say in the 2008 selection for the dems.

5. And the voters feelings in FL/MI
You don't want our vote, our vote doesn't count, then you don't need our vote in the General Election.

3. In Florida, Hillary would only gain 3 votes
that would help her get to the 50% number needed for the nomination.

If the new delegates are added, you would have to get 50% of them, too. Hillary had 3 votes more than what the 50% number would be.

6. Why does Kerrey's opinion matter? He is not a delegate or DNC member.

7. The Florida voting machines are rigged anyway
Anything out of Florida can't be believed. When I voted on one of their Diebold machines in 2004, the damn thing kept showing Dumbya when I would push the Kerry button, until the 4th try.

15. Florida is red. And if it isn't, the machines will make it red.
The Democratic Party in Florida did this to us, and we won't forget. Time to rid ourselves of the Bush Dog Dems.

9. Rules are rules. Obama played by them and Hillary wants to break them. End of the story.
How pathetic is the cry: "I want to change the rules of the game. Please let me cheat."

11. Like previously stated, rules are rules, End of story.
If the votes do count, there should be a re-vote with both candidates campaigning in the states.

19. Why then impose new rules on the super delegates, i.e. that they HAVE
Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 02:35 PM by anamandujano
to cast their vote, their opinion, WITH their constituents? Their constituents already get their representative opinion, the pledged delegates when they vote in their primaries.

Why change that rule now, if RULES really are RULES?

PS--Is there no end to these Kerrys?

22. The SD rules AREN'T changing!
What are you talking about? The issue at hand is the FLA/MI delegates that were never to count, that are now supposed to count according to the Clinton campaign. The SD rules may be addressed after this election cycle, though. Who knows.

16. Kerrey sees the handwriting on the wall, and wants to get right.
Better late than never. When Ben Nelson picks the winner and Bob Kerrey picks the loser in the Nebraska primary, Bob knows he's out of touch.

17. They should either do a redo, or don't seat the delegates
Those that say it would be too expensive to rerun the election tells me they don't care to much for Democracy

Not only is it unfair to the candidates who were told not to run their, but also to the voters in those states who DIDN'T vote because they thought their votes wouldn't count

The only fair solution is a redo, and YES, it is well worth the cost
