The Ohio Dispatch: Clinton maintaining 21 pt lead over Obama
Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 04:41 PM by ElsewheresDaughter
The New York senator holds a 21-point lead over Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, meaning the state regarded as her firewall is holding.

<snip>

Brown acknowledged Obama has made up ground rapidly in other states where Clinton held large poll leads.

"Barack Obama is an especially good campaigner, and he has moved numbers significantly before," Brown said. "The question is, can he move them as significantly as he needs to … despite all the national drift, her lead remains sizable."

The latest poll comes about two weeks after the Dispatch Poll showed Clinton with a 23-point margin over Obama.

The Connecticut university also had Clinton with a 16-point lead in Pennsylvania, whose April 22 vote is the last major 2008 primary.

32. *sigh*
Because Senator Clinton doesn't like caucuses, so caucus states don't count.
Except for Nevada, where she won the caucuses, Nevada counts.

And she like primaries, so primary states count.
Except for all the states she didn't win, those states don't count for one reason or another.

So Texas counts (for now) because it's a primary (unless she loses, then it doesn't count).
Until their caucuses, then Texas doesn't count (unless Senator Clinton wins the caucuses)the Texas counts (again?).

10. TAKE NOTE @ OPENING "If she can't make it here, she can't make it anywhere."
We'll see on March 4th. Carville has said publicly Texas and Ohio are must wins. The polls have been wrong before and the turnout for Obama's volunteering has been unprecedented (even in deep red Cincinnati they had over 700 volunteers turn out)

13. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
But isn't the Ohio primary on March 4?

It's Feb 15 and Wisconsin and Hawaii vote on Feb 19. After those primaries that will give him 2 weeks to focus on Ohio and Texas. 2 weeks is plenty of time to campaign in Ohio and Texas and bridge the gap. Hillary supporters, I wouldn't read too much into those polls at this point since he hasn't campaigned in either state.

22. I know that
:P But he's proven himself to be a better campaigner than her. He can close the gap easily. Especially with another sweep on Feb 19. He knows how important that momentum is (it will help him in Ohio and Texas) and that's why he's been focusing on Wisconsin and even Hawaii.

I think Hillary made a big mistake stealing a page from the Giuiliani's playbook. While it looks like she's doing some campaigning in Wisconsin, she hasn't spent nearly as much time there and from reports I've seen voters have noticed that and resent it.

Wolf Blitzer: Superdelegates are thinking of jumping ship from Clinton to Obama..." (totally untrue)
"Are the clintons seeking special treatment for Chelsea?" Yuck!

Hillary talked to 200 invitation-only supporters at a Skyline Chili here in Cincinnati today... and Michelle Obama's about to roll into Music Hall for an "open to the public" rally!

Enthusiasm for Obama is through the roof here... I've yet to see a Hillary visibility, even. And after Wisconsin, when Michelle and Barack focus on Ohio and campaign here, I think it's going to be alllll good. :-)

... I think it's quite possible you'll see disillusioned Republicans voting Democrat this time around.

Especially in Cincinnati.

edit: By "out of the race," I meant the first big primary with the Republican nomination already having been decided. I could have written that better. ;-)

56. This is really great great news she is way way ahead
There is no way that Obama will get within 20 points of her.

This is a huge lead that shows how deeply devoted they are to her.

2/19 Really good news guys Hillary is still ahead by 17 points - her largest lead ever. Obama has no hope in Ohio.

2/21 Hillary is maintaining a fantastic lead of 14 points at this rate she will pick up 14 delegates and if Texas does their part we will turn back this Obama groundswell.

2/28 I think it is completely shitty that the MSM and those asses at DU just talk and talk and talk about Hillary's lead has been cut in half. Ten fucking points is still huge.

3/1 god its terrible to consider what they are saying about Texas but atleast we have a solid 7 point lead.

3/3 What the fuck do they mean "margin of error". what a bunch of incompetents. Christ these pollsters drive me crazy. Wait until they wake up Wednesday and see that Ohio has gone Clinton oh and BTW a win is a win and I don't care if it is as close as NM.
