I have a question about the GE strategy, in the event that we come to |
|
the end of the primary season and neither candidate is clearly ahead. If Obama and Clinton are still very close, and it ends up going to the convention, what happens between the end of the primaries in the first week of June and the convention at the end of August? Do they continue smashing and bashing each other, trying to sway the convention? Do they each go on the assumption that they will get the nomination and focus on McCain, assuming he's the Repuke nominee? What will be the strategy?
I hate to see the Repukes getting an almost 3 month jump on the GE campaigning, while the Dems are still trying to decide on a nominee.

1. here's some positive spin... |
|
let's say the nomination comes down to the convention (still not likely but certainly possible). The entire world will be focussed on the Democratic Party and its convention and eventual nominee. This could generate a lot of excitement and momentum coming out of the conventionn and down the hometstretch to election day. Also McCain may not know who'd he's facing until late August.

2. It's an opportunity to focus on a progressive Democratic platform without the personalities. |

3. I think this will be where Dean has to step in |

If the pledged delegate total for either shows any kind of significant lead, he must tell the Super D's to be forthcoming with their choice and tell the eventual loser to step aside. Two additional months of sniping at each other instead of McCain will do nothing for party unity.
