Hillary CANCELS Wisconsin events
She is no longer coming to Eau Claire on Monday, and will only appear at the Dem dinner in Milwaukee tonight, perhaps something Sunday. She actually had some supporters that were excited to see her Monday, that will undoubtedly feel cast aside, as she dives right back into Texas and Ohio. Ignore Wisconsin at your own peril, Clinton campaign.

8. this is from an earlier thread on the same subject
Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has scaled back her Wisconsin campaign schedule by a full day, and is now planning to leave the state after Monday morning instead of Tuesday morning.

The move suggests the campaign does not think it can overtake rival Barack Obama here. Obama has already campaigned in the state Tuesday night, Wednesday, Friday, and today. He also has single events planned for Sunday (Kaukauna) and Monday (Beloit).

23. On a personal level, I feel for her, too.
Going into the campaign with a general consensus that she'd be the ultimate winner, she must feel as though she's been kicked in the stomach and when she tries to get up, gets kicked again.

I admire her strength to appear at events and carry on.

I'm not saying it's over - but her head has got to be spinning.

She's really giving it her all and she is to be commended for that.

49. She hasn't "ignored' or 'dismissed' WI, she's been campaigning there for a few days
and realizes that she needs to continue on to another state. Maybe we could start a thread about how the people of Hawaii are feeling jilted because she hasn't campaigned there? Stop personalizing a situation that's not personal. The voters of WI do not feel jilted.

I'm glad you were just kidding -- It IS a great place and Obama gave a rousing and very well-attended rally at UW - Eau Claire this afternoon. Having said that, it would have been great for all if Hillary had come as planned on Monday. Outside of Madison-Milwaukee, this is the state's largest democratic stronghold. The 2004 election -- where WI went "blue" by a squeaker -- proved that candidates ignore the great Northwoods at their peril....

48. But she is already IN the state
so they "deserve a debate" but not the candidate?

Sitting in front of a TV camera vs going out to see the voters.

Now that would make a good attack ad. I doubt Obama would do that, but he would have every right to.

21. Link here -- Clinton scales back campaign schedule here
SATURDAY, Feb. 16, 2008, 12:38 p.m.
By Craig Gilbert

Clinton scales back campaign schedule here

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has scaled back her Wisconsin campaign schedule by a full day, and is now planning to leave the state after Monday morning instead of Tuesday morning.

The move suggests the campaign does not think it can overtake rival Barack Obama here. Obama has already campaigned in the state Tuesday night, Wednesday, Friday, and today. He also has single events planned for Sunday (Kaukauna) and Monday (Beloit).

While the two have exchanged hard-hitting TV ads here, Obama began airing ads a week earlier and has spent much more on TV.

Today is Clinton's first day of campaigning in the state, with an event in Kenosha and a state party dinner in Milwaukee, where Obama also will appear. Clinton will campaign Sunday in De Pere, Wausau and Madison, and is expected to do one event in the state Monday morning before leaving.

While recent public polls suggested Obama began the run-up to the Feb. 19 primary here with only a small lead, the Clinton campaign has wrestled with the tradeoffs of spending time and money here versus the Ohio and Texas primaries March 4, which Clinton cannot afford to lose.

26. Standard procedure: when it looks like your going to lose, flee the state a couple of days
before voting and later claim you weren't really competing there since it is an insignficant state that had circumstances (i.e., voters) that favored your opponent.

Hillary is running for President of the Selected States.

35. Hey, Hillary isn't attending any events in Dallas, either...
...except for some fundraiser in the posh Turtle Creek area that it'll cost you no less than $230 to attend. If Hillary wants Dallas votes, she needs to prove she's serious about it.

Then again, so does Obama. When's he going to step out in front of Dallas City Hall like Howard Dean did in 2003?

40. In her defense (and I'm a Wisconsin Obama supporter)
these are small towns and the weather has been terrible and unpredictable the last few weeks. There is a high end event tonight in Milwaukee and a large event in Madison tomorrow (Sunday), and major bad weather between those two cities... and the airports in this state are not enormous. Campaigning is exhausting. Chelsea and Bill Clinton did a lot more personal appearances than I thought they would, so while the upstate and more rural areas may feel a little left out, I do feel that she gave a good effort to Wisconsin, equal to Obamas.

If I get any more snow in my driveway- well, there is just nowhere to put it- we've broken the annual record in Madison WI.

41. People don't want to see her after they see Obama! LOL
Obama gets them hooked! :) They know a good and honest man when they see one. She is probably going to fly back to Ohio to undo any headway Barack makes there. LOL I'm so happy that Barack has two long weeks to devote to both of those states. If Barack has time with them he will make them see the light. LOL I don't expect him to win either but I hope he comes relatively close to keep her delegate gain down. Tim Russert was saying even with best case scenario (blowout) the most she could hope to gain is a NET of 35 (that is for both states). He said that would be considered a good outcome. He said it is difficult to make up the delegates because they have to split them.
