Why are young women fainting all the time at Obama rallies? Story posted by Sludge Report
http://www.breitbart.tv/html/48404.html

Look, I have still not made up my mind about who to vote for and I will probably support Obama if he is the nominee, but this story really bothers me because it sounds like these fainting females are plants -- like the "I am healed" people at religious revivals and so on. I was very irritated by the planted questions at the Clinton rally but this is worse because it's old-fashioned snake-oil stuff, intended to wow a crowd that is perceived as gullible.

4. You remember the Boston rally
up close there, I think both of us were ready to faint under those lights. xP

Funny though, the person near us who did faint, was the Hillary supporter who works for Ted. Maybe there's something to this plant theory.

Yes, people faint at these kinds of big events and it happens to politicians other than Sen. Obama, too.
Case in point, last month at a Bill Clinton speech:

I haven't read the article because I don't patronize Drudge, but the headline kind of lent itself to the joke...

Just someone else made some rambling, nonsensical post about Obama and the Beatles and how I had no respect for the Fab Four. Things is, they misspelled BEATLES twice in their post, admonishing me.

I don't take well to folks who question my John, Paul, George and Ringo love. :)

fainted. There was a visible reaction from him.
When I looked at the Obama's tapes, I didn't see any visible surprised reaction from Obama. Obama just kept on talking in the same tone he was giving his speech in. Clinton actually jumped up after he realized the girl fainted.
Obama's tapes looked totally bizarre to me.

Edited on Sat Feb-16-08 06:35 PM by ocelot
because they have to stand for a long time and it's usually very hot because of the crowds. The fainting may or may not be noticed by the speaker, depending on where they are standing. There's no reason to assume any nefarious intent on the part of anybody. This is just more spew from Drudge and other RW sources.

with the nomination speech, remember that one? Good god, I thought it would NEVER end (and neither did most of the delegation, either).

OTOH, it did get Bill invited on Carson's show, and was the beginning of his national political career. Kind of like Obama in 2004, really...

48. Probably because Obama has crowds 10-20 times the size of Hillary's crowd. Do the math.
When you have 20,000 people, many of them young people, and they've been standing for hours, a few will faint. Add the Rock Star excitement, maybe missing a meal to get in line early and be up front, and it's a recipe for some fainting.

Not a surprise at all.

Sounds like a talking point someone got in an email.

I’m sure none of us would be surprised to learn that Golden Boy traffics in cynical theatrics and staged interactions - but it would be nice if the MSM took note…

I heard the fainting-gate on the radio today. It was pretty funny all the incidents sounded exactly alike. Someone called in and defended BO and said there’s not a lot different you can do when someone faints. The host pointed out that these were a little too similar for that to be the case. And then he kept saying “PHONY PHONY PHONY PHONY”

49. Personally, I can't go into large crowds without
fainting. Something happens when I am in a crush of bodies, standing up for a long time....it gets too suffocating and I get faint. I always have to stand on the periphery of a crowd. So, it really has nothing to do with the speaker, just how packed in the audience is.
