Just asking...
Ezra Klein has a http://www.prospect.org/csnc/blogs/ezraklein_archive?month=02&year=2008&base_name=7_questions#104497">post up highlighting seven questions each for Obama and McCain (Clinton's are coming) about their tax plans from a tax expert at the Brookings Institute. My question is: why can't we have experts ask such revealing questions at the actual debates? We could skip the panel of vacuous, empty-headed journalists, and replace it with a panel of experts not aligned with either campaign. Then maybe we'd get some real answers, and if not, well, we'll have learned something then as well. It would spare us all from petty attempts at conflict instigation in the selfish hope of creating what passes for news these days.

3. At least with her, "journalists" don't actively try to corrupt her (as far as we know)

The debates are intentionally made inane for the sake of a .001% chance of a fight breaking out. If that's what these media-heads want, they should announce hockey games, and we could all safely ignore them.
