He is not a professor, he's a lecturer (which is a non-tenured faculty position). As a lecturer, I can assure you there is a difference. :)

I have had classes with senior lecturers and they would always be called Professor in class. What else would you call them? Calling them lecturer sounds tacky.

4. It means they don't have tenure, are not on the tenure track, and are no expected to do research |

Students, however, are expecetd to address lecturers as "professor" or "Dr." if the person has a Ph.D.

5. I'm an adjunct and my students call me Dr. cause of the PHD thing |

I'm technically classified as an instructor but addressed as Dr and some of the students call me professor.
