Barack Obama Kicks Off "Stand for Change Tour"
by: Matt Glazer
Sun Feb 17, 2008 at 11:54 AM CST
The Obama Campaign today announced Barack Obama's Stand for Change Tour will make stops in San Antonio and Houston on Tuesday and the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Wednesday before Thursday's Univision/CNN debate in Austin on Thursday.

Obama's visit will coincide with the beginning of early voting which runs through February 29th.

Senator Obama is committed to campaigning in communities across Texas and will ask the people of Texas to stand for change with him," said Adrian Saenz, Obama's Texas state director. "Across Texas, Democrats, Independents and Republicans are looking for a leader like Barack Obama who will stand up to special interests, put aside partisan politics and stand up for working families across America.

Since February 5th, Obama has won 8 Democratic primaries and caucuses in a row. From February 5th through today, there have been 30 primaries and caucuses and Obama has won 21 of those elections to Senator Clinton's nine.

1. The Ballad of Hillary Clinton
The Ballad of Hillary Clinton

Way out in the west
Where the folks are the best,
But the towns are really remote.
Rides our gun-totin’ pal
That Hillary gal,
And she’s courtin’ the Hispanic vote.

Yup, she’s packin’ a gun
And it ain’t just for fun.
They say she’s shot seven or eight.
She’s angry and mean,
The worst that we’ve seen
When she’s roundin’ up each delegate.

“Howdy, you all!”
She says with a drawl.
“I’m looking for Spaniards, you see.
Now ya do what I says,
I’m runnin’ for prez,
So just hand them over to me!”

From the back comes a shout
“I’m afraid that they’re out
At a rally just down the street.
‘Cause a new guy’s come in
And they’re voting for him,
He’s the one they all want to meet!”

She gallops away,
In tears, so they say.
Amid shouts of “Obama’s our man!”
With voices so loud,
A people so proud…
“Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Yes, we can!!

22. Out in the west Texas town of El Paso ...
I saw Marty Robbins' son on TV telling the story of how his dad wrote that song while the family was on vacation. His mother was driving, and his dad was plucking his guitar. As they got near El Paso, his dad started writing the song, and had it finished before they got out the city.

4. I guess the Hillary folks are going underground in Houston
We've been blanketing houston for Barack and we can't find a trace of her. Maybe they have a different strategy.

16. It's not blacks, but gueros who have historically treated latinos poorly.
And Hillary is guero.

I think O will go to some Hispanic strongholds, probably in Houston, Austin, and Corpus or El Paso.
