HillaryLand Has Turned Into Alice In Wonderland
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 09:39 PM by MannyGoldstein
I've seen crazy shit, but this takes the cake.

Looks like the Clintons have switched from race baiting to simply making crap up out of whole cloth. The Deceitful Duo's legions are claiming that Obama lied when he said he'd accept public financing in the general election if his opponent also accepted it. However, Obama's not said otherwise, and it ain't general election campaign season yet, so he's certainly not done otherwise.

How disturbing is it when people are so desperate to win that they make things up? It's sociopathic.

I expect this from Republicans, but not from Democrats.

she seems to be ceding him the nomination in doing so.

How can you attack someone for something that can only happen if you lose?

doubt the candidate who is inspiring this type of amoral and right wing behavior - behavior that has even the most jaded politicians and journalists shaking their heads in awe. Truly one for the history books. The latest, which I am still struggling to believe.. we are now not counting ACTUAL VOTES (because those votes show Obama clearly winning the popular vote totals thus far).. instead, we are COUNTING EXIT POLL DATA. I'm series 11!! See the thread.. its here, its actually being discussed. Those of us who want to count "votes" are WRONG because "we don't count rethugs or indies !!"

Are you fucking kidding me? I am ashamed of people who call themselves democrats and promote this garbage. The effects of this will be felt for years to come. Seriously, who are these people who support Hillary Clinton? IMO, the people promoting the "win at all costs/any price/any tactic" b/s need to stop the hemorrhaging of our party and just go on and migrate to the other side. That is where they belong.

He said he'd consider it. He never said positively that he'd do it.

And it's not a decision that has to be made unless he wins the nomination. Does Hillary believe Obama is going to win?

Personally, I don't think he should do it. Fuck McCain. Obama needs to pull in the big bucks and win this thing! And I'll say the same if Hillary gets the nomination. No candidate should tie his/her own hands. Beating McCain should be the #1 goal.

FUCK MCCAIN. You got that right. Lemme say it again. FUCK MCCAIN.

And I fully expect Hillary to refuse to agree to such bullshit herself. The party of big business and their millions and millions of dollars to smear our candidate? Fuck them! It's suicide for the Dem nom to agree to this, because the Republicans know full well that THIS election season, we will wipe the floor with them with campaign dollars. I don't care WHAT Obama promised. To hell with that.

Obama made a pledge. He's backing off the pledge now. Hillary is just pointing that out.

I know that's the very least I expect of either of the remaining candidates. To have one of them imply that s/he'd like to see the nominee go into that election with any less that every advantage at his or her disposal is disturbing, to say the least.

Share The Clinton campaign says Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is breaking his word by refusing to commit to taking public financing, should he become the Democratic nominee.

On a conference call Sunday afternoon with reporters, Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson accused Obama of going back on a pledge they say he made last year, to participate in public financing if the Republican opponent would also agree to do so."

28. Whatever news story you produce ....
Doesnt justify the insulting nature of the the OP posts .....

Calling someone 'mean assed' isn't an insult, if they do in fact have interject 'meanness' into the dialogue .....

I support both Democratic party candidates .... I reject the meanness on BOTH sides .... This OP isnt immune to those same, well-founded condemnations .... Claiming someone who supports a candidate you do not support 'did it first' isn't justification to commit the same transgression .... Tu Quoque fallacy ...

23. "Fooling anyone"?
I am an Obama supporter now. I would have preferred Edwards, but I take the best I can find. Obama is the best candidate left in the race.

My problems on DU aren't with Obama himself -- not often, anyway -- but with tendencies among many (not all) of his followers. If more of his supporters were capable of saying, "He's pretty amazing but he's not perfect," half these issues would go away and you'd convert a lot of the neutral people. You'd even convert some of the Hillary people.

As it stands, I was wrong in this thread. The lack of a link in the OP led me to conclude, falsely, that this wasn't based on anything that came fro the Clintons but something from a Hillary-ite here on DU. I was wrong.

See that? It's not so hard to admit imperfection.

To try to make an issue of this, by any Democrat, is uncalled for and in Clinton's case, desperate.

I hope if either one of them is the nominee they won't take Federal funding. None of the Rethugs would have, if they had been able to raise enough funds this time around.
