13. I'm superstitious about putting a number on it.
But I think you are right about the merits of an Obama Presidency and how it will strengthen the party.

29. 40 year cycle. With Pres Obama, 40 yrs Southern Strategy Dixiecracy, 1-Party System, Red State Rule
"Will we have Dixiecracy II and 40 more years of a retooled Southern
Strategy, or a new progressive urban-southwest coalition?
the dramatis personae of Clinton or Obama are not the main issue -
it's the long-term shift in the political landscape..."

In other words, if the OP is right, it will be 40 years of Democracy in name only...

"Obama's nomination will be the death of the already moribund
Democratic party as a progressive element. It will REALLY be just
Coca-Cola vs. Pepsi with two corporatist, sloganeering fake parties,
even more than now. That's why Obama's slogan is Don't Fight - it's
about a fusion of political forces under one fascist logo."

34. Or the 40 years, from the early thirties to the early 70s, when
FDRs New Deal policies set the agenda for all parties, no matter how the actual holding of office waxed and waned.

Even into the 90s, Social Security was the 'third rail' that no one dared touch - a feature of the Democratic legacy of FDR.

like, e.g., THEY now control elections, the media, and much education . . .

PLUS, most Dem pols now are less liberal than Nixon.

Don't want to be a downer, BUT I think we now face a difficult task, and I don't see an Obama win as curing all that.

32. Obama could transform the party for the better, yes I agree
Similiar to what Regean did for rethugs Obama could bring Democrats to dominance. He has the ability to inspire and encourage. Regardless what Hillary says that is extremely important.

I love Kerry but people bashed him from being dull and not a captivating speaker. He had great ideas and more experience than Hillary and Bush combined but still never got over the hump. He couldn't get people inspired. Obama can, and will win.
