The "paid by the campaign" meme is an effort to delegitamize others' views.
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 01:30 PM by rinsd
My fellow Hillary supporters who have been here throughout the primary season, know exactly what its like to be called paid by the campaign for doing nothing but trying to support our candidate.

Why was this done?

Sometimes because a poster is so narrow minded they cannot conceive of anyone thinking differently.

Sometime its just a nasty insult.

I can't be sure of the exact reasons but the goal was clear.

To delegitamize the views of Hillary's supporters as inorganic, as paid for.

Shit it happened so often we even turned it into a game for awhile having "pay day" threads.

So for any of my fellow Hillary supporters or cicadas professing their new found love of Hillary, knock the paid poster shit off.

1. I'm could care less if someone is a campaign employee if they have
something worthwhile to post. It's hard to imagine why any campaign would
pay someone to post some of the bullshit we've been seeing lately though.
It wouldn't help them.

11. I see your cult and raise you a Hillbot!
;-)

But honestly, if you can find a reference to cults from me directed at Obama supporters I would be surprised.

7. What I don't get....
is that paid or not it's just one person with one opinion, and should be taken for what it is. Whether they get paid doesn't make me any more or less likely to pay attention. I think campaigns would be better served spending that money on something useful, because if some of the supporters here are being paid it's not helping them anyways. :)

last month, something I found sort of amusing since I'm still afraid to post my own threads. Of course it's used as a cheap way to discredit posters who simply don't agree with them.

10. Not to mention the height of hubris. Usenet newsgroups always had
"spies everywhere" too. Like anybody cares what a bunch of fools pishing away their time in some newsgroup(or blog) think about anything. :eyes:

That being said, there *are* over 100,000 registered members here at DU, it's not impossible that some here may be working for a campaign. I myself am a union delegate, and my union has endorsed Obama. Should I be prevented from posting here, or should I have some sort of disclaimer at the end of all my posts?

IMHO, if there *are* paid staffers posting here from the Clinton campaign, as long as they abide by the DU rules I welcome their input. I've been doing this sort of thing for far too long to get personally angry at a candidate or their staff. I consider the DLC to be my mortal enemies, but hey, it's just war.

Nothing personal. ;)

12. Marching orders have the same result whether the marcher is paid or not.
It's not those that think differently, it's those that spam the board with an obvious talking point that originates somewhere.
