Absolutely deplorable. Howard Wolfson is human waste. His accusations of plagiarism are desperate and sickening. He is an ugly, sadistic, vile pig-like animal.

24. I thought that's what the OP meant to. That story is obviously deplorable b.s.
The plagiarism seems to be proven, more or less, by a side-by-side comparison of the speeches. However, that doesn't mean that anyone cares. I'm a Hillary supporter and I'm not exactly shocked to learn that politician's speeches are written by speechwriters who borrow from other political speeches.

Limosine story - obvious trash.
Plagiarism story - true but not very interesting.

Next?

plagiarism is a huge deal., because it is the total essence of a civic union. You can work your whole life to get educated and when you shoot your wad, the first person you want to con cure with adds the influx to present it to the masses.(hence all great discoveries happen at the same time by two teams). Ob ama is a politician that leads stupids.

The Clinton Campaign Just Now...

February 18, 2008 11:33 AM

In a conference call just now the Clinton campaign would not guarantee that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, has never used someone else's rhetoric without crediting them.

I asked Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson and Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass, if they could assure the public that neither Clinton nor McGovern has ever done what Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, did when he used the rhetoric of Gov. Deval Patrick without footnoting him.

They would not.

In fact, Wolfson seemed to say it wouldn't be as big a deal if it were discovered that Clinton had "lifted" such language.

"Sen. Clinton is not running on the strength of her rhetoric," Wolfson said.

Hmmmm.

Hillary's campaign phony charge is only a big deal because Obama's "rhetoric" is powerful and appealing to more people.

This claim against Obama is a cheap stunt by her campaign to distort what really happened:

“Don’t tell me words don’t matter,” Mr. Obama said, to applause. “ ‘I have a dream’ — just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’ — just words? ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself’ — just words? Just speeches?”

Mr. Patrick employed similar language during his 2006 governor’s race when his Republican rival, Kerry Healey, criticized him as offering lofty rhetoric over specifics. Mr. Patrick has endorsed Mr. Obama, and the two men are close friends.

“ ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’ — just words? Just words?” Mr. Patrick said one month before his election. “ ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself’ — just words? ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.’ Just words? ‘I have a dream’ — just words?”

In a telephone interview on Sunday, Mr. Patrick said that he and Mr. Obama first talked about the attacks from their respective rivals last summer, when Mrs. Clinton was raising questions about Mr. Obama’s experience, and that they discussed them again last week.

Both men had anticipated that Mr. Obama’s rhetorical strength would provide a point of criticism. Mr. Patrick said he told Mr. Obama that he should respond to the criticism, and he shared language from his campaign with Mr. Obama’s speechwriters.

Mr. Patrick said he did not believe Mr. Obama should give him credit.

“Who knows who I am? The point is more important than whose argument it is,” said Mr. Patrick, who telephoned The New York Times at the request of the Obama campaign. “It’s a transcendent argument.”

David Axelrod, the chief strategist for Mr. Obama who also advised Mr. Patrick, said Sunday that Mr. Obama adapted the words from Mr. Patrick. Mr. Axelrod said that he did not write the words for either candidate.

“They often riff off one another. They share a world view,” Mr. Axelrod said. “Both of them are effective speakers whose words tend to get requoted and arguments tend to be embraced widely.”

The similarities from a passage of Mr. Obama’s speech on Saturday and in remarks that Mr. Patrick delivered on Oct. 15, 2006, were highlighted by a rival campaign that did not want to be identified. Clips of both speeches are archived on the Web site YouTube.com.

41. The Audacity of Plagarism : Plagiarizing a speech during a
presidential campaign was enough to end Sen. Joe Biden’s first bid for the presidency. In 1987, Joe Biden ran as a Democratic presidential candidate. When the campaign began, he was considered a frontrunner because of his moderate image. However, the campaign ended when he was accused of plagiarizing a speech by Neil Kinnock, then-leader of the British Labour Party. Though Biden had correctly credited the original author in all speeches but one, the one where he failed to make mention of the originator was caught on video. In the video Biden is filmed repeating a stump speech by Kinnock, with only minor modifications.

If just one or two phrases repeated, I’d give him the benefit of the doubt and call it a coincidences…but 4 phrases repeated with the same cadence, tone and intonation? Obama uses old school “gold dust preacher” tricks to hypnotize crowds: steadily increasing volume of voice and music, steadily increasing his cadence, chanting/repeating the same words and phrases over and over and over, swaying, saying something very general that can apply to all then quickly saying specifics to grab different parts of the crowd and pull them in. If it gets really warm where he’s speaking, that’s another technique.

Hank Hanegraaff speaks to this issue he talks about how cults work…it’s kind of like a semi-conscious (ie, awake) hypnotism.Maybe Obama is studying speaking styles that work and forgot that he studied that guy.

94. since he lifted a few phrases from another black man
i fail to see the racism in the accusations of plagiarism. this entire thing is a non-issue as far as i'm concerned, and if i was an obama supporter, it would not change my opinion of him one bit.

60. Oh Please. Half Of You Should Be Banned Forever With The Insane And Immature Bullshit You Spew.
And to call for that poster's banning makes you nothing short of an asshole.

There may have been some legitimate concerns in that thread and I know for certain that the OP meant well. For you to PUBLICLY call for their ouster makes you an asshole of the nth degree, and far worse of a member of this community than they are. What do ya think of them apples pal.

We aren't the ones who went out and ran Hillary's campaign in the ground.

82. For The Way Some Of You Have Behaved On Here, You Deserve To Be Attacked Personally.
You've earned it completely. The behavior from some of you has reached disgraceful degrees, and many deserve TS'ing far more than the person referenced in the OP. Some of you disgust me and are nothing but filth.

85. Hillary Hounds are not going to like this thread
They stifle anyone that excercises free speech. Ironically they it under the banner of free speech. Sick bunch the Clintons and their supporters. They have accomplished only 2 things. I can never vote for a Clinton and I look at Bill's legacy in a new and unflattering light.
