What is Hillary up to? Why would she need a special website just for delegates? And why would she hide it behind a privacy protection service?

19. Why should I?????
Just look all over DU and most of the stuff is Obama is this type of jerk and Hillary is this type jerk. Time to talk about the issues. Again they all do this type of stuff. Hell Obama has pay for some of his Super Delegate to a tune of $600,000 and Hillary has done the same. I was for Obama at one time, even sent the man money, then I went to Hillary and sent her money, but I'm getting sick of both of these people because of this kind of bullshit from their wacko supporters.

Call me crazy, but the implication that a presidential candidate would provide an online hub for delegates is kinda serious.

14. I have looked into that
Obama's site has two other sites pointing to it. Both of them are commercial spammers trying to get typein traffic. They don't share the CPOINT/DNS connection like delegatehub.org does. I also suspect those two spammer sites will be .htaccessed off shortly.

26. When you register a domain name
You are supposed to include your contact information: ADMIN name, ORG name, TECH name, physical address, etc. If the information is false, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) can yank your domain away from you.

When you perform a WHOIS lookup on a domain name, you will see information similar to what I posted in the OP, personalized for your site, naturally.

A privacy protection service hides public WHOIS information.

A domain name is only that. It is not a website until actual content is uploaded to a hosting server.

It is possible to point one's domain name to another server but usually you discover the bad webmaster has a completely different host.

For an example of a webmaster pointing a domain name to another server, open www.hotlesbiansheepaction.com.

I am trying to find out if this delegatehub.org site is indeed, part of the Clinton campaign, or if it is some script kiddie playing with teh Interwebs.

31. thanks, much clearer.
it is possible that this is a ruse to make Clinton look shady (lol!, I have to laugh at that one - she does so well to herself on that), I understand that part now.

but...
if it ends up being a legit site for superdelegates, or to talk about the superdelegate issue in private - put up by Clinton -
partly in secrecy (otherwise it would be right on her campaign site, correct?)
what could the reasons be for this looking at it from her end
and would it break any campaigning rules, etc.?

thanks
will keep this thread on my 'interest' list.

33. private registration
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 07:48 PM by mbergen
I don't know any reason why, or why not there would be anything wrong with this, but I know that our work domain name is registered with Network Solutions and the private registration is something we get for something like $9 a year - I believe it helps cut down on spam or to keep our companies contact info semi private, though I might be wrong. We still have to give our info to them, it's just not publicly available if a person does a search on our domain name.

Editing: Why would Network Solutions offer private registration as a service if it was not completely legal?

One last edit from their website - we got this because it sounded like a good thing to us.

Do you want to protect your privacy? Add Private Registration to your domain name(s) and Network Solutions will provide alternate contact information for the listing of your domain name registration(s) in the public WHOIS database.
Domain Names with Private Registration receive:

* Privacy - Alternate contact information will be used to keep your personal information private
* Protection - Prevent e-mails from spammers and calls from telemarketers
* Value - For only $9/year, you will have the peace of mind that your e-mail address, home address, or phone number information will not be misused
* Full Control - Unlike other proxy services, you remain the registrant for the private domain name
* E-mail Masking - Your private registration e-mail address changes every 10 days. E-mail received at this address will be filtered for spam and forwarded to your designated e-mail account.

34. Yes
There is nothing wrong or illegal as far as private registration goes. However, if this particular domain is part of the Clinton campaign, private registration looks suspicious. I am not up on FEC rules in reference to websites but I would think that full disclosure is standard operating procedure.

What I'm trying to find out is whether or not this domain is part of the Clinton campaign and why (if it is) did they register it?

Still haven't heard back from the Clinton campaign. I will try again tomorrow.
