Does Hillary have a patent on WORDS?

1. Yeah, that's RIGHT!!! Because it's OK to plagiarize from your FRIENDS!!!!!!!
Obama's biggest sin, though, is that he didn't deliver the speech HALF as well as Deval did.

For THAT, he should be excoriated!!!!

"As president I know I can't kill, jail or occupy every nation we don't agree with and I cannot just wish that all the terrorists be wiped off the face of the Earth." - Hillary Clinton, 2/10/2007

That sure sounds familiar....

"If you got an interdependent world, and you cannot kill, jail or occupy all your adversaries, sooner or later you have to make a deal." - Bill Clinton, 4/16/2005

Wait, wait, I know what you're going to say - IT DOESN'T COUNT!
************************************
I wonder if Sen. Clinton delivered the above as well as President Clinton?

20. Bring it up for comparison and contrasting, then! Put it before the jury!
A sentence isn't a bigass chunk of a speech, but what the hell...try seeing if it will float!

It isn't that it doesn't 'count,' it just doesn't "rise to the level."

And if you weren't being disingenuous, you'd acknowledge that.

He stole "Yes, We Can" from Cesar Chavez, too, if you want to get nitpicky about "phrase useage"...but that's entered the public domain with use by anyone and everyone with a "cause" to tout, so no one gets excited about that.

The old "with whatever before you were against whatever" belonged to Kerry, once upon a time but now it belongs to everyone and ANYONE who wants to make a point about flip-flopping. A sentence or a phrase isn't the same as whole paragraphs from a speech, now, is it?

The real sin, as I've said, is that Deval did a WAY better job than Barack. And Deval is not generally regarded as "the better" speaker.

genuous. I guess you see this like...a little white lie....it's not REALLY a lie! It's a very dicey road for Sen. Clinton to go down....she has proved she will stop at nothing.

Click on the link....Sen. Obama admittingly, giving Patrick credit, his use of words other than his own, which I might add Sen. Clinton has not admitted to. Of course she hasn't apologized for her IWR vote either so I'm sure this is just "small fry" for her.

23. He did that because the plagiarizing was covered by alert media. He didn't do it the first
twenty or thirty times he delivered the speech.

media that was bothered....it is Sen. Clinton's campaign nitpicking.

If they'd had more Beantown media on the trail they may have caught it sooner.

28. Not important enough to make it onto the bus, I guess.
All the major networks have "their guys" who get the footage and provide the coverage to the affiliates. Boston is a big market, but it's not Chigago, or NYC or LA or even DC. It's "second tier" sizewise, so it doesn't always get those fun gigs. Same with the papers--the Globe is owned by the NYT, and the Herald is hooked up with some scumbags--the Murdoch crowd or some such. When they were there, covering him he likely didn't whip that speech out, or the ones covering it 'missed' the DP speech.

I'll be honest, when I first heard him give that speech, I knew that it really bugged me for some reason, but I did not know why. Now I do. I'd heard it before...

4. Obama and Patrick are friends, and they take each other's lines.
They're allowed to--it's between them, you're right. Odd that the Hillary campaign would try to make this an issue--she's got a lot of problems with co-opting lines and messages and legislation and ideas, even entire books, herself.

12. I agree with you Hillary in the toilet
I cannot believe that ONE ENTIRE day has been wasted by the Hillary campaign fanning the flames of this non-story. It reminds me of the Bush DUI charge prior to the general election...it cost him votes but unfortunately they stole the election from Gore anyways. But this time, Hillary and Bill's slanderous and corrupt campaign will self-inflict another wound pursuing this "plagiarism" story about Obama. It will not work, as a matter of fact, it is making the independents angry that once again Hillary is pursuing a dirty and shameful campaign to win at any cost.

Anyone who doesn't find this accusation an obvious , and desperate
attempt by the Clinton's to assasinate Obama's character, is fooling
themself. It's high school behavior at best. I imagine Bill and Hillary
pulled shit like this back then too.

13. Clintons will have to take a LONG shower after this campaign.
By the time this is over, they're going to be so caked in poo, mud, and blood, they'll need to spend a lot of time whimpering under a long hot shower and think about what they've done.

29. Actually it's between Axelrod & Axelrod.
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 11:54 AM by Marie26
It's all about the marketing. If you hire Axelrod as a campaign manager, he will create the message for you.

From Axelrod's marketing firm web-site:

"With a team of professionals experienced in every aspect of campaign message and strategy, AKP&D Message and Media, formerly Axelrod & Associates, has helped elect Democrats to every office from alderman to President – in every region across the country. And no firm in America has helped elect more mayors. For a winning message – and the day-to-day strategies and award-winning commercials to deliver it effectively – Democratic candidates can't do better than adding AKP&D to their team."

"AKP&D - Media and Message

Partners: David Axelrod

David Axelrod is one of the pre-eminent political media consultants in the United States, having produced winning media and messages for over 150 campaigns at the local, state, and national levels. ... In 2004, Axelrod helped State Senator Barack Obama score a landslide win in his U.S. Senate campaign, developing a message and media strategy that enabled Obama to defeat six opponents in the Democratic primary with an astounding 53% of the vote. He is currently serving as media advisor to Obama’s presidential campaign.

In 2006, Axelrod oversaw the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s independent expenditure media program, helping Democrats regain the House Majority for the first time since 1994. That same year, Axelrod served as media advisor to Deval Patrick, former head of the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, who was elected Massachusetts’ first Democratic governor in 16 years...

In addition to candidate races, Axelrod has developed successful media campaigns for many ballot initiatives and independent committees. ... Axelrod has served as an Adjunct Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University and has lectured on political media at Harvard University, the University of Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania.
