I now find myself apologizing to my friends for sending them here. |
|
This forum is an embarrassemnt. I'm not sure DU will survive this Primary with its reputation intact.

|

But you are a silly for sending people here without warning them about GD:P

9. I don't recall it being this bad |
|
I lurked here for a long time before posting in 04 and don't remember it being this dirty. But maybe I missed the worst of the primary season.
I remember that we were all focused on beating bu$h, bashing the right wing and the neocons at every chance we had. I remember that if you didn't back up a post with factual links, you would get run out of town so fast.

4. Well, I certainly hope that looking at posts here didn't make them cry. |
|
Or that they then picked up the phone to cry some more about it to you.

6. For me, it's the stupidity and dihonesty that bothers me. |
|
Fights, I can handle.
But when people will use anything, say anything even when they know they don't mean it... that has ruined much of this site for me.

7. It sure as hell ain't what it was. |
|
During the 2004 election season, it was such a haven. Now it's hostile, petty- postings here are very much like the "comments" on the blog section of the Obama web site.

Did you want them to come post about how great Obama is?

21. The "Uncritical Praise For Obama" forum is located at his CAMPAIGN website, I believe. |
|
That's the place for the cheerleading squad....not here!

16. It does seem to be contained within the GD-P section though. That's just a small |
|
section of the site. Skinner et admins did well on this, and the limit on 3 posts helps also. Hopefully, the pinata fight will be over after March 4th.

17. No one is forcing you to stay here, or send people here. |
|
If people are that easily offended, don't send them here. REALLY. It's not like this "primary bullshit" is a shock.
Perhaps you can give your easily bruised friends a tutorial in HIDE THREAD and IGNORE.
At a certain age, people have to take responsibility for their own decisions.
Participating, or not, is a decision.

I won't send them anywhere on the Internet anymore, as far as political forums where people post opinions. It's like this everywhere. Jeez.
At least there are people I "recognize" here.

26. I never send anyone to DU |
|
infact if there are other people around when I'm looking at it I hurry and get off the site before they see it. It's not just now with the primary but going back a ways, just too many agitator rude trouble makers here. I love this place myself but not a place that I could honestly say I'm proud of.

I'm beaming out towards NH my unwittingly well developed "psychic ignore" function.
People were equally as crazed in '04. The race just didn't go on as long.
Bereft of any truly representative leadership for too long, employing a entirely compromised voting systems, with a complicit and coerced media, folks are just plain FRUSTRATED.
I figure, it's far better that the flame each other on message boards than go to their respective alma maters bearing arms.
Maybe something constructive will come out of all the rancor.
It's largely juvenile at best.
I'm a deluded optimist though.
This too shall pass.
I wouldn't feel compelled to apologize as you hardly are responsible for the perhaps warranted snarkiness and vitriolic reactions of others. Nor do you need to feel embarrassed.
We all know our very democracy is at stake.
Tensions are high and rightfully so.
Nobody wants to go through another thwarted election.
Rovian tactics truly don't help.
Your "Go to your rooms" thread was one of the best in recent times.
That truly put it in perspective. Perhaps we all have to make a collective quantum leap out of the sandbox on oh so many levels.
I'm hoping for that.
