Post 1 in last 3 days. Hillary is shameful. AND helpful |
|
I had been lulled into a bit of false sense of security around the idea that this campaign might make it all the way to the convention without camps resorting to really misleading, shallow, bullshit type stuff....but I see now that Hillary is facing an extremely uphill battle (not Huckabee uphilll....but uphill nonetheless) she is going crazy with the attacks. Plagiarism? really? That might work when a guy is lifting entire pieces of his text from another person without attribution. But in our day and age of fair use and music sampling and sound bites....I think it has been proven how disengenuous their cry of "plagiarism" really is.
On top of that, Hillary is lying about Obama's health care plan. Well, I could just as easily say 90% of Americans don't want a "Big Sister" overlord telling you that you HAVE to be covered under the plan if you don't want to. That really smacks of communism in my book.
I do think we have only seen just the beginning of the scurrilous and vicious attacks on Obama and his wife from the Clintons which is sad and ironic since they are engaging in the same kind of lies they hated to deal with when Republicans were running the smear machine against them. However, I also think they've understood they cannot go all the way down the the very recess of human base thinking and behavior. I believe their cesspool of attacks has a bottom. And they're just not very good at their attacks coming off smoothly. So, they are more like a workaday sparring partner for Obama to build up his resistance to petty attacks so he can fight his way in the big fight against McCain and the slie machine the GOP is so cunningly able to bring against our Democratic candidates.
So....a pox on Clinton camp who is going really ugly in the final weeks of the campaign and also THANK YOU to them for helping define which candidate wants to talk issues and which one really has no new ideas and must resort to old school negativity.

2. This is already backfiring. Texas polling shows Obama gaining. |
|
Plus the superdelegates are either switching to Obama or moving from Hillary's camp to undecided.
I hope the Clintons, Wolfson, Penn and others keep up the good work.

4. This is a good practice session for Obama to deal with RNC dirty tricks and Rovian games. |
|
If anything Hillary's meltdown is giving Obama a good time to deal with these sort of BS attacks he'll be dealing with in the GE.
I just find it sad that Hillary would seriously want to take down the Democratic party with her if she cannot win.

I don't doubt they would...and I would have fought anybody that ever would have suggested such a thing 6 months ago. I made a thread this morning asking if anybody thought they'd pull a "Lieberman" and run as a 3rd party I-Dem if they lose...I'm really starting to wonder about these people

So far, he's doing incredible with the rapid response, and twisting the argument on its head, and making the initiators look like total assholes. This is a new campaign, and it's refreshing to see unfold. :bounce:

If he is the nominee you guys are going to get a huge eye opening experience.
This is patty-cake compared to what the Repubs will do to him.

We know what a swiftboat attack looks like. Obama is ready for anything they throw at him.
Are you saying that Hillary wouldn't be attacked by the Repukes?

8. The "plaigiarism" meme smells it came from Carville's bowels |
|
It's a Rovian tactic: attack the strong point of a candidate. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat...
I'm ready to make a shield with the Obama logo and take it to the streets in Denver if she dares to try to steal this away.

13. spoken by a follower of a campaign that enjoys Bush's support |
|
think about that.
Bush: "Speeches don't put food on your families."
Bush: "The guy's kinda dark to be a president, isn't he? We bomb brown-skinned people--not elect them."
Bush: "I kinda like that Hillary. She understands pressure".
You guys have the albatross around your neck that the preferred candidate of Bush is Hillary. Bill Clinton and Poppy Bush have spent years getting close so Bill could get the Bush Crime family cooperation on Hillary's run.
I'm not flipped out--merely pointing out how SHE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM...not a solution for it.

17. I think his way of doing it before is pitch perfect |
|
It boils down to this--he will parry every single thrust and jab....but he will do so in a way that politely addresses the issue at hand (whether bringing in race like Bill did, plagiarism, etc. etc.) and doesn't go overboard so she can't paint him as being threatening.
I'm just waiting for the debate in Austin. He will state his position on the matter unequivocally and then her lip will quiver...she'll start tearing up....maybe even outright bawling to get cheap votes.

This is the kind of crap that can take a candidate down. Both candidates need to be very cautious in the home stretch.

24. heavily watched? by 800K people? most of whom have voted? |
|
if it's on 60 Minutes watched by 13 million, maybe I'll get really nervous. Until then, it is one tiny blip in a couple of news cycles. And it will make people angry that Clinton is doing this.

27. Yes, it is getting coverage. That is because the Wisconsin primary is tomorrow. |
|
The Hillary people have gone on the attack in order to win Wisconsin and the media has picked up on it.
This is a baseless attack, but if Hillary wins Wisconsin because of it -- which is the goal -- the purpose for getting it into the media one day prior to the primary will have been accomplished.

28. the ratings on CNN are around debates and primary results |
|
in the days leading up to big political events their ratings still suck. Even if she were to win Wisconsin, it won't be by more than a handful of votes and will result in an almost even split of delegates.
My belief is this will backfire on her big time. Thankfully.
