A Happy Hour Endorsement for Obama (from a Republican)
Over the weekend, I went out for happy hour with a friend. I found my way into a conversation with a conservative co-worker of hers (who's voted for Bush twice). He is still one of those odd balls that likes Bush. He told me that in McCain vs Obama, he votes Obama. Clinton is not an option for him.

His logic was skewed, but he voted for Bush twice, so that's to be expected. His thought was that the nation needs a great communicator at its helm, and that the President can not dictate or write laws. Therefore, he wants someone who can rebuild our international image. He see's Obama as that person to him. He didn't talk about platform, issues, just about perception.

I have to say, I was really shocked that someone who still likes Bush would have that opinion. With all the volunteer wrangling I'll be doing in the fall, I'm terribly excited about the excitement brought in by the Obama camp. That being said, I'm a yellow dog Dem. I'll vote for Clinton in the fall if she wins the endorsement. That's a long way of saying that this post is not about candidate bashing. It is totally about the President being electable. Obama's got it.

2. LMFAO!
That is an excellent question. It was actually fairly early in the evening. A few hours later and I would have doubted his sincerity. He was quite passionate about what he was saying.

3. It really is about the "Hope Factor" isn't it? People are tired
and exausted from trying to be proud of a their country but it gets harder every day.

If * staunchest supporters can't defend his ignorance and incompetence any more and are willing to cross over for "Hope"....well there is something to be said about that.

4. Your experience is not unusual at all! I hear the same thing...
People I know are deciding between Obama and McCain, not Obama and Clinton - they've ruled her out for a variety of reasons.
