I opposed the Iraq war cause I knew a pro west Iraq would take 50 years of American sacrifice |
|
I bought all the WMD shit (I thought we sold it to him, the CIA probably has the receipts - they must know exactly where the WMD are), but thought that we still had Saddam contained.
I knew if we invaded and overthrew their government, it would take decades to rebuild.
If I thought that the war occupation would be over by 2009, I would have supported the war.
I knew it was bat shit insane to think that we would have a pro-west, stable, unified, democratic Iraq by 2009.
We should have never invaded Iraq. The idea that the war was a good idea, but that Bush mismanaged it does not sit well with me.
In "real" life I am know as a huge Hillary Clinton supporter. Almost all dems in my area are Hillary "supporters" (most of us got on board cause we did not want to be crushed by her inevitable victory).
But Hillary lost me with her cheerleading for the war. I doubt she will need my help to become president. I still see her as inevitable.
But I am very proud that Obama has done as well as he has in this race.:patriot: While I think he is identical to HRC in position, he is much more likable.
I am not smarter then Kerry, Clinton, Edwards, and all the other war supporters. I just stood up for what I knew was right. Perhaps that made all the difference.

2. We will be Arabs before they become Americans. Their society is older than "the Book". They aren't |

3. We could stay there 250 years and the minute we pull out our military, |

everything we have installed will evaporate.

4. It was a bad idea from the start. Had nothing ot do w/WMD's, |
|
nothing to do with "democracy", nothing to do w/getting bin-Laden...it is all about the oil.
Blood and tears, for nothing more than keeping oil king for another decade.
History repeats itself, we went into Honduras for the Dole Company...Smedley Butler watched as his Marines died so that Dole could make money. We are seeing the same thing here.

5. Bush's other stated goal: turn the Mid East toward democracy. |
|
Although I thought it was just another excuse for bush's theft of Iraqi oil, America never really did consider the idea. Was invading Iraq the best way of achieving that goal? Or did it set that goal back?
This region is a serious mess--everyone knows that, right? The half-assed way of the Bush's won't cut it. So, should we do something? World War 3 anyone?
