I caught right wingers posting false quotes from Michelle Obama
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 12:05 PM by nomad1776
They took her statement:

"For the first time in my adult life I am REALLY proud of my Country"

and changed it to:

"For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my Country"

In fact videos of her speech have been crudely editted to make the word "really" more difficult to hear. This is exactly the sort of immoral sick political BS, that I hate. In fact it's safe to say people engaging in politics, such as this, would make people less than REALLY proud of our Country.

4. You must be a Clinton supporter, since you don't seem to care
about the truth. You seem more concerned about spin.

23. She didn't say
"for the first time in my adult life I'm proud of my Country"

That is what Clinton's camp and the Republican attack machine is reporting. It's false and it's a disgusting tactic.

36. Screwed up is an OPINION
it's not a fact, you need to learn your fundamentals. As an opinion, I don't have to "admit" it. If it were a "fact", that would be a different story.

3. The fact that they tried to edit out the "really" is despicable
They knew it wasn't controversial with the "really" part in there, so they edited it out to make it sound bad.

Here is the unedited version:

9. The thing is, is that alot of people are really proud of our country - with the exception of the
last 8 years.

Maybe she could have said - for the first time in 8 years I am really proud of my country.

25. No, she couldn't say that. That would be admitting that
she was proud of the Clinton years. That's the reason for the ambiguity.

12. Boy, these people are so damned desperate.
I have always said as an Obama supporter, I would vote for Hillary if she won the nom.

However, if she wins by going after Obama's pledged delegates, that will do it for me. I will stay home on election day.

As far as all of the crap about Michelle's speech, "...for the first time in my adult life, I am REALLY proud of my country," -- well, it's just more of the same bullshit by frightened Hillary supporters who are afraid this thing is slipping away from them.

Peace:thumbsup:

14. You think the "really" makes any difference?
I am not saying this is accurate, but the Boston Herald is skipping that really, too:

http://news.bostonherald.com/news/2008/view.bg?articleid=1074519

“Hope is making a comeback and, let me tell you, for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change,” she said during a rally in downtown Milwaukee.

That's the quote. Frankly, I don't think it was the swiftest thing to say. It doesn't 'really' matter now, it might matter later.

I mean, how the hell old is she? Since she's turned eighteen, she hasn't seen a single thing to be proud of about America? EVER? Space Shuttle? Olympics? Toni Morrison winning the Nobel Prize? The long and honorable career of Thurgood Marshall?

It comes off as a bit negative--I imagine, though, she didn't mean it that way, her intent was no doubt to register her delight at her husband's achievements.

That said--I don't think it's a big deal. It was just not the most "politic" thing to say. IMO. 'Really.'

22. It made enough of a difference that the anti Obama people
edited their quotes of her and when to the trouble of obscuring it on the videos of her speech. They wouldn't have gone to that much effort if they didn't think that way.

27. Well, the Boston Herald doesn't like her either, apparently because they did the same thing.
Of course, they endorsed McCain (surprise, surprise) so I guess they're uninterested in portraying her in an accurate light.
