MSNBC Hosts Founder Of Anti-Hillary Group "C.U.N.T."
I wonder how many of you belong to this group?

As is his wont, the little watched and seldom heeded Tucker Carlson continued to pursue his "hurt America" agenda last night on MSNBC, when he once again invited the so-called wisdom of "legendary Republican strategist" Roger Stone. The topic: how would Republicans take the attack to the Democratic nominee?

There wasn't anything particularly groundbreaking to Stone's analysis: whoever the nominee would be would end up being painted as a liberal, George McGovern would be invoked, and of course, the wild insinuation that voting Democrat is a de facto death sentence for the nation at the hands of jihadists would be made. Along the way, Stone got to call Hillary Clinton a "hack" who "believes in virtually nothing," and, with regards to Obama, Stone got to raise the specter of "assassination." Real authoritative, responsible stuff!

Nevertheless, the stunning disingenuousness of the conversation was enough to inspire a fountain of gorge. How will Republicans attack the candidates? Well, in the specific instance of Roger Stone, the answer is: start a juvenile, anti-Hillary 527 organization themed around a vulgar term for female genitalia (cf. Jane Fonda). That any credible news organization can continue to give wide audience to Stone's wisdom without disclosing his involvement in the campaign season's most brazen obscenity is beyond reason.

Ironically, the one employee at MSNBC who's evinced a willingness to challenge Stone on this regard is David Shuster. The cable news network was without his services last night.

59. More on that point from the NYObserver:
MSNBC’s David Shuster: Defender of Clinton Family Honor?

BY FELIX GILLETTE | FEBRUARY 13, 2008 | TAGS: MEDIADAVID SHUSTERMSNBC
This article was published in the February 13, 2008, edition of The New York Observer.

It was a little before midnight on Tuesday, Jan. 27 that MSNBC correspondent David Shuster hit the “Send” button on a curt e-mail to Republican rabble-rouser Roger Stone.

Days earlier, Mr. Stone and others had filed papers with the I.R.S. to form a “527” organization dedicated to educating “the American Public about what Hillary Clinton really is.” The organization was called “Citizens United Not Timid,” i.e., C.U.N.T.

“Hey Roger Stone,” wrote Mr. Shuster in an e-mail to Mr. Stone’s personal Web site, the Stone Zone. “Why not put your own name on this?”

Mr. Stone was in no mood to take flack from an uptight reporter unable to take a joke. Mr. Stone felt the suggestion that he was hiding behind the site was ludicrous. After all, he had invited reporter Matt Labash of The Weekly Standard to sit in on the organization’s planning meeting.

The next afternoon, he responded. “Hey David Shuster,” Mr. Stone wrote back. “I in essence did when I let the entire planning meeting be on the record for a reporter.”

From there the confrontation fizzled, leaving Mr. Stone, weeks later, wondering what motivated Mr. Shuster to e-mail him about C.U.N.T. in the first place. Was Mr. Shuster working on a story? Or was he acting out of—irony alert!—indignation on behalf of Hillary Clinton?

It would be ironic because, two weeks later, while filling in on MSNBC’s Tucker program, Mr. Shuster himself used saucy language to refer to a lady Clinton when he suggested Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign was “pimping” her 28-year-old daughter, Chelsea, who traveled extensively across the country with her mother during the early primary season.

Political Consultant Resigns After Allegations of Threatening Spitzer’s Father
DANNY HAKIM and NICHOLAS CONFESSORE

Published: August 23, 2007
ALBANY, Aug. 22 — The Senate majority leader, Joseph L. Bruno, forced one of his top political consultants to resign on Wednesday after allegations that he left a threatening telephone message at the office of Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s father.

The consultant, Roger J. Stone Jr., continued to insist that the recorded message — which was made public by lawyers representing the governor’s 83-year-old father, Bernard Spitzer — was not authentic. He said allies of the governor had plotted against him, though an alibi he offered in a statement on his Web site appeared to be problematic.

87. any new links to Obama the 'muslim' for you to open a thread about...
to feign outrage and concern over how 'awful' this kind of 'divisive' talk is. How 'terrible' some people can be, but still have that filth as a title on the front page - which I think was the main purpose of it all.

I wouldn't go accusing anyone else of subterfuge, so 'some people say'.

72. It is equally true that there are Republican 'Hillary Supporters'
posting under the guise of real democrats, in order to stir up dissension between the campaigns and better McCain's chances by enflaming democrats against each other.

I know this for a fact.

The day after McCain wins we will see all the 'Ha Ha' posts, as they reveal themselves.

Turning a misogynistic term into an acronym? Brilliant! It must have taken them all week to think of that! It's hilarious!

Geez, I'm an Obama supporter and I'll agree that goes way past the line of good taste.

Scratch that, anyone with any sort of decency at all should agree that this is just disgusting.

44. this is the definition of a 527 group
527 Group – A tax-exempt group organized under section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code to raise money for political activities including voter mobilization efforts, issue advocacy and the like. Currently, the FEC only requires a 527 group to file regular disclosure reports if it is a political party or political action committee (PAC) that engages in either activities expressly advocating the election or defeat of a federal candidate, or in electioneering communications. Otherwise, it must file either with the government of the state in which it is located or the Internal Revenue Service. Many 527s run by special interest groups raise unlimited "soft money," which they use for voter mobilization and certain types of issue advocacy, but not for efforts that expressly advocate the election or defeat of a federal candidate or amount to electioneering communications.

The last line seems to suggest that they are in violation of the code. So why are they allowed to continue to spew thier filth?

49. How can NBC/MSNBC/G.E. continue to give Tucker Carlson television exposure?
This was no "accident", but the intentional actions of a rich brat whose father opened every door for him his entire life.

My companion says that Tucker's dad must have some leverage with the network because there is no reasonable explanation of why he is on the air at all. His ratings have never been high and he was fired by CNN.

62. Find...I don't watch much of MSNBC anymore.. The long arm of Jack Welch
and his views seem to be all over that place...also CNBC, these days. Jack Welch apparently told his CNBC crowd that he thinks Obama will be better for Wall St. That might have something to do with their sexist stuff against Hillary. Morning Joe and the Mika paring were the first hint...now we have C.U.N.T. Sounds like Stone worked that one out with Welch.

Still...the Vagina Monologues sort of opened the door for that. And, Jane...she always manages to attract controversy because she is as hated as Hillary by RW Males.

How do my comments garner any kind of "support"???

My comments reflect the pile on bullshit that takes place here day after day after day.

So now you're going to tell me that:

1. I'm a rabid Clinton supporter. False.

2. I need to go post in the Lounge. Doubly false.

Yet, that's all I get from you folks when I slap you upside the head with the truth.

92. Well, by suggesting that DUers may be members of this group you do appear to violate rules 3 and 4,
so it should probably not have been posted that way at all, not even in the Lounge. How hard would it have been to leave off the suggestion that DUers are part of this group? It is hardly respectful and it IS inflammatory. Can you argue otherwise?

"3. Civility: Treat other members with respect. Do not post personal attacks against other members of this discussion forum."

"4. Content: Do not post messages that are inflammatory, extreme, divisive, incoherent, or otherwise inappropriate. Do not engage in anti-social, disruptive, or trolling behavior. Do not post broad-brush, bigoted statements. The moderators and administrators work very hard to enforce some minimal standards regarding what content is appropriate. But please remember that this is a large and diverse community that includes a broad range of opinion. which hurts Clinton's support. There is absolutely no way for me to understand what motivates you, boredom is as good a guess as any.

Regardless of the reason for your behaviour, it's predictable effect is realized.

Our conversation is over. Maybe later I'll repost the article without the insults, it raises good points, which are lost due to the context it was set in.
