Ben & Jerry & Obama
<snip>

"Is the way to voters' hearts through whimsically named frozen treats?

In Vermont, the smallest of the four states holding March 4 primaries, Sen. Barack Obama already had key support from the state's congressional delegation, Democrats who hold statewide offices and almost all of the state legislative leadership.

Which is in all likelihood very useful and could help him win by a large margin in the state's open primary next month, but isn't anything you can drown in chocolate syrup or serve to voters in a sugar cone. So the Ben & Jerry's vote could make all the difference. At an event in Burlington yesterday, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, the Ben & Jerry's founders and former John Edwards supporters, formally announced their support for Obama.

Sen. Patrick Leahy, Vermont's senior senator, joined the ice cream entrepreneurs and played a new Obama radio ad featuring himself and Leahy's wife Marcelle that has begun airing across the state. As part of the event, Ben & Jerry and Leahy rode in customized Honda Elements they dubbed "ObamaMobiles," to American Flatbread, a Vermont-based "artisan pizza" company. No word on whether, among all discussion of Obama's commitment to affordable health care and getting children the "education they deserve," anyone in the party ordered American Flatbread's "Revolution" pizza. They were already handing out "Cherries for Change" ice cream, so perhaps there's a limit on symbolically freighted food.

Greenfield said yesterday that he was backing Obama over Hillary Clinton because Obama had been against the war in Iraq from "day one." That's an argument that could play particularly well in Vermont, where last year dozens of towns approved a call to investigate impeaching President Bush and Vice President Cheney for misleading the nation into the Iraq war. And this year, voters in Brattleboro can go from casting their primary ballots to considering whether the town itself should draft "indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution."

3. Vermont will be overwhelmingly for Obama
And although I'm not a big ice cream fan, American Flatbread Pizzas are fantastic.

11. Or when someone shines the light on the fact
that he isn't an anti-war candidate. He's voted for it every time it has come up as a Senator. But he made a SPEECH when he was in no position to make a difference one way or the other. I wonder if he wrote that one....

22. Yes he does, he melts everyone around him as well

because he outshines Clinton in intelligence, in humor, in insightfulness, in strategy
(see how the CIA caught the top terrorist-Obama's ideas) and in integrity.

24. I don't see that

and in America, you can choose your candidate. Why are you dumping on Vermonters for
exercising this right? If you don't want to participate and eat ice cream, then stay home. I
doubt anyone will though. Vermonters are a smart bunch. They're leading the way to punishing
Bush for his misdeeds. Perhaps that's why you're flaming this thread.

23. Actually it does.
All GBH free milk and cream, most of it from Vermont small dairy farms. No additives. For a confection, it has top notch ingredients. And both Ben and Jerry have done a hell of a lot of good.

perhaps you too, are here for some other reason.

I suggest you go and get yourself a Cherry Garcia pint
and start enjoying life, instead of being such a creep.
