Randi is saying that the "talk out there" is that |
|
Gore will have to step in and speak with the candidates, encouraging one or the other to step aside gracefully.
I don't know if the thought is that it's needed now (seems a little premature to me) - or later.
Do you guys think it'll come to that?
If it does, I don't see either of them going softly into the night.

to soon. There's a lot of people that would still like a chance to vote. I don't see the obstinate, stubborn BO giving an inch on anything. I certainly wouldn't want Hillary to step down, she's the only hope the country has.

She is bound and determined for a big showdown.
Hopefully, Al can convince the Clintons to think of the Country and the Party before themselves.
Hillary is addicted to the idea of being President, and it's going to take a full-scale Intervention to get her off of it.

to say one person running is "addicted" to the idea of being President, but nobody else is.
They all want the job, and they'll all work hard to get it. Is Edwards even MORE addicted to it because he ran twice?

I think some people are more likely to drop out given the same conditions. Look at Romney and Huckabee.
It seems to me that Clinton is in a tighter situation now then Edwards was when he dropped out.

like that's a bad thing? and Barack Obama has been working 20 hour days away from his family for the past ten months because he wants the frequent flier miles?
Gore needs to stay out of it. it is too late. and, of course, since his antithapy for the Clintons is well known, I am sure that she would take it in the spirit intended.

10. On the other hand, I've heard an opinion that if Hillary feels that it's in the |

bag for Obama, she would voluntarily withdraw to save face.
As we've learned over and over during this campaign - we will probably be surprised regardless of the outcome.

|
Apparently, Gore, Biden, Dodd, Richardson, and (Pelosi) are going to serve as the "Gang of 5" and Gore has been meeting with the former contenders. They suggested this is to plan for the time to step in as one voice, and why they haven't endorsed anyone.

I'd love to be sitting in on the Gang of 5's meeting when they make their decision. I honestly have no feeling of who any of them might prefer. And...they will have to take in the "beat the Repubs" factor, too.
Isn't this fascinating? I'm sorry it may come to this, but boy - this is one roller coaster of an election!

15. I say let the boil come to a head and all the pus burst out. |
|
Let everyone in the world, especially Americans, come to realize how very much is wrong with our system of electing politicians at all levels.
I don't even like the idea of president, I wish this country would get beyond the idea that one person is the ultimate arbiter of what is best for this country and those countries within its realm of influence, especially in an age where psychosocial weaponry is increasingly more effective.
I shudder to think of the next election, when the GOP candidate will be chosen based on "charisma." I know Rove is sitting back with advisors, studying the Obama effect and contemplating how they can turn that to their advantage. In fact, they're studying him now to see how best to take his one positive, the ability to sway through rhetoric, and tear him down with it.

to be prevented by our "checks and balances" system.

She will not go quietly into the gentle night. Once I saw that look in her eye, you know the one I mean, I realized, that failure for HRC is not an option. I think she has bought the superdelegates already in one form or another, and no matter how well BO does, he will ultimately lose to her "math". I hate to say it, though.

This is one fight that will have to work itself out. I hope there is an apparent winner by the time the convention rolls around. Obama has the momentum to win the nom, but I'm keeping my Hillary avatar as a show to support against the treatment she's been getting in the MSM and on DU.

Radio hosts need something to talk about. So this brings out the flame throwers. It's, uh, "Which one of you wants to volunteer to be the loser?" That'll be good on their resume.

36. I love Gore, but he's not "the people"; he's still just one person.. |
|
I don't even want my "heroes" to place their preferences above the voters. Let the voters decide, and the delegates democratically chosen in the Primaries.
As an Obama supporter, sure, there's something selfish in me that "wants" Gore to talk Hillary into dropping out, but I'm suspicious of any and all "backroom" dealings that are at variance with the voters wishes, and their duly selected delegates.
I don't subscribe to the fear motiff of "OMG, we can't have a divided party or convention" I mean, screw that. This is what democracy is all about, and I'd like to believe that whoever the voters/delegates chose, the whole party will rally behind in the GE. One needs look no further than SCOTUS to realize that we MUST have a Dem Prez in the White House come Jan '09, period.
