What happened to the "Dream Ticket"? |
|
Just a few weeks ago, people here were clamoring for a "dream ticket" because both candidates were of superb quality.
Recently, with Obama surging in the polls, this forum has turned into a cesspool of hatred for Senator Clinton all the while expressing hope for unity and change. Most of her followers here are leaving, and I presume a lot of this has to do with the belligerence of some, not all, of the Obama supporters.
This board is quickly turning into Free Republic; coercive demagoguery and verbatim have supplanted rational, 2-way debate. Why this divisiveness? Why polarize each candidate as everything that the other is not when clearly the similarities between the two are far greater than the differences?

childish assholes. But there aren't as many of them as their loud yammering makes it appear.
Overall, a Hillary/Obama, Obama/Hillary ticket would be the most awesome Democratic combination ever!

You cant convince me that a majority of Obama supporters want him to share a ticket with Clinton. He has absolutely nothing to gain by sharing a ticket with her. I dont buy your argument for a second.

28. I Think They'd Be Amazing Compliments To Each Other, And An UNSTOPPABLE Ticket. |
|
I think as an added bonus, we'd get TWO candidates who would make history.
I think the buzz around the ticket would be greater than any ticket that there has ever been. I think they'd steamroll over anyone on the right just based on that hyped up buzz alone.

Could you just imagine our two Dems teaming up against McCain?? He would have to check into the old folks home because he would be so tired out just trying to keep up with us. Personally, this is precisely what I wish for. Then we could all be reunited and get back to kicking Republican butt instead of fighting with each other.

Way I see it, the buzz factor itself based on the historic qualities of it and how strong each of them are, would give the campaign such a steamroll effect that the McCain ticket would have nothing! Think about it. Who would be talking about the McCain ticket? It would all be about our ticket. McCain would be sittin there screaming into a crowd of emptiness "Hey!!! What about us?? Hello??" LOL. For real, what would they possibly have that could overcome the buzz?

Obama CAN'T take Hill ... His whole message, as a cross comparison to Hill, is CHANGE ...
He would invalidate the very foundation of his candidacy by bringing Hill on board ...
Hill could take Obama on, but ... Just can't see it ... Hill has to be the undisputed top of the ticket, Obama is almost too big for her to have as VP at this point ...

31. I don't think so. Real party splits are about ideology: |
|
Humphrey vs. McCarthy, Carter vs. Kennedy, Reagan vs. Ford.
This is almost exclusively about *personality* ( notwithstanding Clinton's mammoth IWR misjudgements).
We're hearing on this site for the most part the most *fiendishly* dedicated partisans of each candidate. They are, for the most part a minority of a minority of a minority.
I think I'm pretty average in this respect: I'll be happy to support Obama/Clinton; and somewhat less happy to support Clinton/Obama... but happy enough.
That said the liklihood of either of these tickets is slim. Odds are Obama has the top spot at this point. Clinton adds little to the ticket for the same reasons the fight is over personalities: there isn't that much difference between the two, ideologically. Therefore, Clinton won't add much to an Obama led ticket.
He'll look to someone w. military/foreign policy credentials from a non- NE state: probably Biden, Clark, Webb or to a westerner of border state southerner... preferably a female in deference to Clinton's effort.
The military thing seems to be a must, though, as it's clear that the other side sees weakness to exploit there.

There is clearly just as much belligerence towards Obama.
There was an OP a couple days ago saying that they wouldn't vote for Obama even in a general election and that got 100 recs. So with all due respect, you must be living in a fantasy world.

21. You are right. It is the dream ticket and here's why. |
|
Democrats never out poll Republicans in primaries. But this year it has happened in every single state.
If we add the votes of Hillary and Barack together, many times in many states the sum is as high as three times higher than that of the GOP.
On Super Tuesday, our side had some 6 million more voters than their side.
Both Barack and Hillary are inspiring people to come out in primaries that would have never voted before. And while one may be doing it more than the other, what matters is the sum total of those voters.
If we want to win and win big, if we want to carry the House and the Senate, then this is the Dream Ticket.

32. Not all Obama supporters, but the worst Obamacans want to fracture the party over a figurehead. |
|
I don't even mind the party being fractured by either method or ideology. But it's being fractured by marketing experts and a cult of personality, which means the party is being exploded by an enormous gust of hot air. Most Hillary supporters will vote Obama, many Obama supporters will not vote Hillary--that just about says it all.
