Anyone else watching MSNBC tonight - and the progressive chopping down
of Michelle Obama's Amerikkka hating quote? About an hour or so a go, the clip they showed was poorly edited; the damning quote said, "for the first time in my adult life I am reh... Leh.. proud of America."

Patty Cake went nuts about it even though the mash was embarrassing. About 5 minutes ago or so they had a redo of the last try, and this time the damning quote said, "for the first time in my life I am rer-proud of my country."

I don't really see the huge difference between leaving out the modifier "really" but the fact that there's such a concerted (and apparently poor) effort to remove that word makes me not only roll my eyes, but makes me feel pretty good about Obama's chances.

1. A look at things to come
If Obama becomes the Dem nominee, Matthews, Russert and Williams will play that clip to death while telling glowing tales of Saint John McCain.

4. Yeah...if they want to lose their careers
I work in film/video and spotted the edit on the first viewing. I edit dialog into and out of footage all the time (for fiction films, I hasten to add - I've never done it to any news footage, or wanted to). It was really sloppy work.

It's not going to take more than 30 minutes to pop together a youtube 'before and after clip' showing up how ham-handed this is, and to question what kind of journalists would knowingly use and recycle modified source material.

2. Really? The fact that this is going to continue to be blown up and exploited makes you feel good?

5. Only by idiots
I'm sure it will be posted here constantly as it is already, but right now the only thing that's being posted is the hilarious chop up of the speech.

I'm sure it will be smoothed out by the time I reply, so it may look unedited to someone just walking by the video at first glance.

3. you want to hear whats even worse, i heard Mike Allen from Politico on Hugh Hewitt today
and even in that right wing world Allen and even Hewitt said "It's really not a big deal" but what does M$NBC do, ride that horse until it's dead, then they can re animate it and kill it again and again.

7. I actually have no qualms about this
my only fear is some advisers urge him to reel in his wife, and he caves.

I don't think that will happen, but only because they've actually run the campaign I've been aching for, for too long.

16. Michelle needs to bring this up, OWN it and move it forward in a real, identifiaable way
talk about it in her speeches.

6. I loved the Independent Woman pundit who said,
"remember, there are some people voting now that have gone from Jim Crow laws to voting for a black man in a presidential primary".

I think that gives a little balance to Michelle's remarks. This country has not been as kind to some as it has to white males, who are normally up there in suits waving flags, kissing babies and getting elected to positions of power.

8. Here's a DU thread
that has a video of both speeches. One saying "proud" and a later speech saying "really proud".

10. I've also seen a lot of Hillary hatin'
It's pretty subtle, but I see it. Whether it's because of the momentum swinging to Obama or an actual dislike of the women, it's disgusting.

I'm an Obama supporter and it bothers me to see it.

17. I agree
but tonight, was a bizarre thing to witness. Both of us (my wife and I) had read the various texts, and watched the youtube links, so were ready for what was coming on national cable..... and the "same" clips they showed on the the concurrent shows, were very, poorly edited.

The first version made both Bi-Baby and I laugh our asses off because it was so poorly mashed. The next time it aired, it was slightly better, but it was still very obvious. The next time it almost seemed right, save for the "rwah" sound with the word, "proud" and the blink on the screen.

19. Read anigbrowl's advice upthread about
creating a YouTube video showing the actual clip in real time and unedited in contrast with the edited bullshit. It won't take long for it to go viral and the idiots to be exposed. The internet is such a wonderful village. :)

18. it was BS turned to FNC they were doing the same
however a very unpopular, former Clinton advisor said:

The news about Michelle is over tonight with the Obama win in WI & HI

and it really isn't that important because it didn't come from the candidate, but his wife.

21. Obama showed how truly green he is when he pouted about Hillary being tough on him!
He is a fool and the media and republicans know it! Anyone who thinks the cake walk will continue for Obama needs to go to rehab.
