Who's flying to Texas to help recruit voters??!! I'm STOKED!
I work full time, I have a wife and daughter....we have obligations. I'm late 30's--not the college kids profiled as the main Obama enthusiasts...and yet I'm still looking into a last minute air fare to help Obama knock on doors and get voters to the polls.

You know that stupid Jack in the Box commercial where everyone down the chain of command says "Why didn't WE think of that?"? That's what I believe all who campaign will be asking themselves. I am on McCain's, Hillary's, and Obama's email lists. His is the first one that just flat out asked for all kinds of volunteers from all over the country to pitch in and help.

We are there ready to answer the call. Finally someone called upon us.

Thank you, Obama!!!

2. I'm going to Ohio. The campaign recruited me with a personal phone call several weeks
ago to start phone-banking. I've since had phone calls from two people from the regional headquarters and one person calls routinely from the local level. Also, through the EXTENSIVE website, I've hooked up with neighborhood people who are traveling to Ohio !

It is a glorious thing to be part of such a friendly, active and INCLUSIVE network !

3. that is awesome. their "get out the vote" effort may be unparalleled.
we'll have to see in the fall. Cuz you KNOW it's all over for Hillary's campaign. I know because I saw Monica Lewinsky singing.

I don't think Ohio is in my future, but if I can swing it, I'll do it.

4. Where are you going in Texas? Houston? Dallas?
I'm in Victoria, SW of Houston. Bill Clinton will be here tomorrow, and we're expecting alot of Republicans who are changing to Democrats this year. I think quite a few don't even care if it is Hillary or Obama.

5. I'm checking both Houston and Dallas airfares.
I would be looking at flying out Friday to stay through for the training on Saturday and the work the rest of the time. Which is the most likely to tip Hillary's way as it stands right now? That might be my deciding factor?

8. This is one
of the many reasons I believe in an Obama presidency.

He doesn't say..."Ah, go shopping"!

And, he understands that the PEOPLE WANT to control this country.

We can do more than shop!

because that is where I believe we can have the biggest impact. But good luck down where you're at.

He might be more likely to do better in the Houston area. I need to check with a friend up in North Texas. Check the Houston Chronicle for regional surveys. Other places to check are Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth start Telegram, Tyler Morning Telegraph:

http://www.tylerpaper.com/

East Texas tends to be a very bigoted place. Tyler would be the bigger city of East Texas not on the stateline with La or Ar. I have a very good friend (Hillary supporter) in Tyler if you fly to dallas to work in East Texas. He worked on the 1992 Clinton campaign when he lived in Memphis Tn. Tyler is about 2 hours east of Dallas Love Field, three hours from DFW.
I hope some of this helps.

Sorry. I've been riding the fence between the two of them, and I can't decide. I thought at first you were a Hillary supporter, and that is fine as I hope to see BC here tomorrow. But I love Obama too.

6. Do it! You won't regret it.
My sis and I worked in OH for Kerry in the last days before the GE and even though the next day was a total downer, we were so glad that we did the ground work there. It was the first time I'd been that heavily involved in a Presidential campaign. We may do it again this year, not sure. :kick:

before the South Carolina Primary when 3 Working Men from New York all gave one of them the money to go down and do what he could for Obama!

Thank you, PretzelWarrior..you do good work!
