21. "Chopper Bob" Tur's daughter.
Early twenties, blonde, very, as the kids say "hot." Not a genius, by a long shot... but she doesn't need to be. She's rich and very attractive.

She looks like Olbermann's granddaughter, actually, but that gets him the "You Lucky Bastard" award from this male dominant society, doncha know!!

Mean people who denigrate their "true love" (he is plainly infatuated, which is why he was referring to her obliquely on the air when they first started up, and he showed up one night looking rode hard/put away wet with a curious mouth rash one evening that makeup wouldn't cover) say she is just with him in an effort to get a few pointers, as her desire is to get into media as a full time job. Towards that end, her daddy has set her up with production back up and some sort of "position" in NY. Her dad is a helo pilot and a media big wig in LA, who makes a FORTUNE running the company that does car chases, gossip coverage, and other helicopter video shoots. He also has a big chunk of a TV affiliate out that way. He's got dough.

Here's video of her. Be patient--she's not the elephant or the whacko with the hair, but she comes along 'eventually.'

I warn you, as a reporter, she sucks (but, then, she is doing the Olbermann Internship--bada bing!! Sorry, couldn't resist--it wrote itself). She's immature, sloppy, stupid, with a crappy voice for tee vee, but, then...she's young. VERY young. And hot. So she doesn't have to be good, at least not in this world, at this point in time in our history, because there are different standards for young ladies who are hot in our vapid society (once they get older, they get kicked to the curb, unfortunately--but that's all to the good for the "discerning" gentlemen, isn't it, now?): http://current.com/items/76776992_elephant_walk_nyc_2007

If you read some of the snarky comments associated with this video, you'll see that the KO-Katy relationship isn't a great big secret (hasn't been for some time). There are some who suggest that she's trying to sleep her way to the top, but that hasn't done her much good--I'm not seeing her "feature pieces" on MSGOP yet....

24. Katy Tur might be looking for a father figure. More than possible, as her old man
(who is younger than KO) worked his ass off building up his business and wasn't much of a Ward Cleaver.

For background on her Pops, who is responsible for a lot of pop culture's most recognizable aerial images, see here (FWIW--Bob Tur is not actually a "little guy"--he's fucking LOADED): http://www.esquire.com/features/Youtube0707

The Man Who Could Kill YouTube
Bob Tur is the little guy who is suing one giant (Google) to do what another giant (Viacom) probably never will -- shut YouTube down

A single bottle broke the calm, shattering in the late-afternoon sun. Then another...and another. A few men walked into Tom's Liquor and walked out quicker than would be possible if they'd paid. A family followed, tossing groceries into the intersection of Florence and Normandie in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. Bob Tur, a pilot and photojournalist, hovered above the unfolding chaos in his helicopter, along with his copilot, his camerawoman wife, his lawyer, and a 9mm semiautomatic pistol. Fifteen years later, he still recalls the details of the scene with the precision of a war memory. There was Larry Tarvin, who was pulled from his truck and kicked in the ribs, shoulder, and face. That's when the shots started. Tur's chopper began taking hits as the throng below pummeled another trucker, Reginald Denny, with a cement block, a tire iron, and a fire extinguisher.

Tur knew this was coming, he says, having spent weeks in advance of the Rodney King verdict interviewing gangbangers, church leaders, whomever, asking what would happen if the jury acquitted four white cops. The Crips told Tur they'd try to kill as many white people as possible. So when the call came at 3:15 p.m. on April 29, 1992, Tur, whose fledgling news-video company was pioneering helicopter coverage of breaking events, knew where to go. He arrived on the scene before anyone else and recorded many of the images people now associate with the L.A. riots.

Over the years, he estimates, the Denny tape has generated about $5 million in licensing fees. But Tur has spent almost an equal amount filing lawsuits to protect his content. All of which led to the day last spring when he happened upon an article in The Wall Street Journal about an upstart video-sharing Website whose users were uploading clips of dogs skateboarding and grandmothers belching and, oh yeah, copyrighted news footage. Tur logged on and, after two clicks, watched his Denny video. A few weeks later, like a small bottle tossed before the mob of big entertainment companies like Viacom began their battle for control of digital media, Tur became the first person to sue YouTube for copyright infringement.

Tur wants YouTube shuttered until its parent company, Google, can guarantee his videos and other copyrighted content won't reappear after being taken down. And even if there's a filtering technology out there that really works (despite Google's April announcement of such a technology, Tur is skeptical), he wants a court to say the law doesn't shield YouTube-like services, so he's protected from whatever site becomes the next big thing. ....

27. But that article makes it sound like the Turs aren't so rich anymore.
What about when he says he's going broke, and he's mortgaged his kids' futures on winning his lawsuits, and he's lost his marriage because of the insecurity it's created? (He dropped the one against Google, actually, to join a later class action. Probably a lot cheaper that way.)

28. He is crying "poor mouth." He might be considered poor because he only
has half as many millions as his steeeenking rich neighbors.

I think his marriage went south before the YOUTUBE thing, too, FWIW. He might be a bit of a Daytime Soap Opera Emmy winner, in terms of his dramatic approach to life.

He went out with Carrie Fisher for awhile, IIRC. I don't think that's "on" anymore, but I could be wrong.

Here he is with his ex--see, young looking feller:

I also think he owns some sort of patent having to do with the fancy gyro cameras -- the stabilizing ones -- that they use on helos nowadays. I also think he owns a piece of one of those larger LA tv stations as well.

29. My understanding is that the Fisher thing has been over since 2005.
And I've seen pictures of him. I've seen him on his little MSNBC show--which appears to have been compiled from clips of chases that are at least 12 years old now, and were earlier used on similar programs on The Discovery Channel, Court TV, etc.

Maybe he's just crying poor, but then again, maybe not. Suing all those people has got to be a bit expensive. At least it ties up a lot of assets that might otherwise be liquid.

13. You must be watching an alternative universe MSNBC. He made the
announcement in the middle of McCain's speech and then tossed it quickly back to McCain. He doesn't make the decision when to make the call. He has a producer in his ear, telling him they're cutting away, make the announcement and go back. They want to be counted as the first to call the race.
