Hillary should drop out and take the VP slot
:hide:

This is not intended to be flame bait... though I suspect it'll draw some attacks.

I honestly believe both Obama and Clinton are fine candidates. If Hillary was where Obama is and vice versa, I'd be calling for Obama to take the second spot on the ticket (even though he's my preferred candidate).

We have here the makings of a dream ticket that could unite the Democrats and beat the crap out of McCain. The only question here is whether we will defeat ourselves before the fall campaign even begins.

It's time to unite. It is literally time for Obama people and Clinton people to join hands and sing Kumbaya. Can we do it? PLEASE?

76. Not unlike Senator Byrd, Webb has matured and has achieved a profound change in attitude.
As a former woman Army officer, I'd be proud to have him as out VP. You see, I can FORGIVE someone who has reflected on his behavior and has made concerted changes. Unfortunately, some people NEVER forgive nor forget. Silly me, I mistakenly thought those who treasured the nurturing of grudges were only from the ranks of RW republicans.

46. Webb once supported Bush and Macaca and made blatantly sexist remarks.
He wrote a paper called "Women Can't Fight" or somesuch garbage. If you thought the "Obama is a sexist" comments are bad now, they'll increase 100-fold before November with Webb.

No Webb. He belongs in the Senate.

30. Obama doesn't need a devisive pol.
His hard work in being a community organizer is great for his job as a POTUS. He did this while she was the wife of a politician. The difference is showing up in his stellar organization on the ground in this race. Hillary would be a hindrance to the work that has to get done. She is a politician with the kind of politician thinking, political expediency overrides all else. Not the kind of person a general wants to talk to about issues of war and troops and military concerns. To say nothing of her vote on the war.

and I'd take it. She'd make a good VP. I would NOT be upset if she stepped down and then took the VP role. I will be very saddened if she is shut out of the next administration all together. When was the last time that the runner up for the nomination got THIS many votes. No matter how much the people on here want to blind themselves with Hillary-hate, you cannot over look that a HUGE percentage of American's love this woman... more so than, possibly, any runner up to the democratic nomination in the past. She has earned the right to be VP by gathering so many votes in the nominating process. I think that democratic leaders such as Al Gore, and Howard Dean agree. I think that is why they are not endorsing. So that they can barter an arrangement between Clinton and Barack.

41. The can't really run on the same ticket for practical reasons.
What is Obama's message (one that been working extraordinarily well, by the way)? Change! hope Change! Running with Hill would say, 'but not really.'

What's Hillary's message (less effective but primary to her run)? "Ready on Day 1" which also implied Obama isn't. The VP has to be ready also. What if Hill died on day 2? Inquireing voters would want to know. And it would leave Hill open to charges of flip floping, dishonesty, etc.

It has nothing to do with whether Obama and Hill like each other or not. It has nothing to do with whether Dems like Hill, Obama, or not. It has to do with not stepping on your own messge, not sending mixed messages.

56. NO NO NO NO NO!
Seriously.. i don't see the advantage to this. Clinton supporters (most of them) are hard core dems.. they will eventually decide that they'd rather have Obama instead of McCain. For the big reasons.. Iraq, Healthcare, Abortion, Gay Rights.. the Dem ticket items that McCain won't touch.

But, Obama is pulling HUGE Independents and some republicans. These people DO NOT LIKE HILLARY! If she's on the ticket, he will lose many of those voters, and quickly hop to McCain.. they're just on his side by a thread right now anyway.

He will lose more then he will gain by putting Hillary on his ticket. Nevermind the fact that frankly, the two don't get along all that well, and it would be obvious and forced.

This wouldn't do Obama any good - so why do it?

77. I think he'll look at history (JFK and LBJ). JFK's advisors warned him against
LBJ as a VP, but JFK felt he needed him to win the election.

I do not think that is true in this case. Clinton would be a drag on Obama's ability to win. He needs someone who can hold the independents and cross-overs from going with McCain. Clinton won't be able to do that.
