Ironic....Dean group to promote Kerry presidency...Democracy for America.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2004/03/17/politics1341EST0674.DTL

SNIP..."The initials -- DFA -- are those of his high-flying presidential campaign, but Howard Dean's new advocacy group will recruit like-minded candidates seeking lower-tier offices as well as promote the election of Democratic candidate John Kerry.

Dean, the former Vermont governor who had been the front-runner for the party's nomination before delegate elections began, is hoping to prove to the political establishment that he retains some of the power he once enjoyed with the legions of followers who helped him raise record amounts of campaign money.

Supporters say the new organization, Democracy For America, will help return political power to the community level....."

2. I find it ironic now. He leaves Dean hanging, Dean supports him.
I frankly think Kerry would rather Dean would just go away. Like a lot of folks here. Then we can all pretend again, like good little Democrats, that speaking nicely will work.

4. Dean's just doing what surrogates do.
Saying things that would be undignified in the candidate and leave him open to easy attack. Dean's smart and knows the score. His Democracy For America move is a brilliant way to pull for unity while keeping his issues and his profile alive. He's contributing to the cause and positioning himself for next time. You can bet that he's not crying into his beer about lack of support from Kerry. He knows how the game is played, and is currently playing it beautifully.

5. Dean knows what he's doing. Some people clearly do not
Or at least they wish to pretend that they don't to continue old internecine wars. :(

7. No, you've been quite polite from what I've seen
Though I disagree with you. I just hate to see a return to Kerry/Dean wars when both guys did the right thing, in my opinion. Strategically, this was the right move. I don't like it, but when am I going to like anything in a national campaign where the Democrat is well to the right of me?

10. That is what I am trying to find out.
The comment was rather veiled and unclear, and it was in a thread responding to mine. So I asked.

Have I been rude to you? Have I done the things the poster says?

That is what I meant. If not then you should not say if the shoe fits. Because I don't know who he was referring to.

Now is this a fair question?

12. Assuming that you're referring to post #5, which started this sub-thread,
the issue is not rudeness, but continuing old internecine wars. Of course I can't speak for jpgray, but I find it hard to imagine what the purpose of post #2 was, if not to rub salt in old wounds and crank up old arguments.

13. This was from two day ago. Where did you find it?
This post was two days ago. I just saw it. This was before Dean's announcement and his appearances when he made it clear what the org was.

Dean's announcement clarified a lot of things. This thread was the day before his announcement.

I now understand more about his role, and he would not want anyone speaking up for him.

I have not posted much since then, and I was upset about the terrorist mouthpiece thing.

What upsets me is that you dragged this back up. The announcement made a huge difference to me. I am no longer angry at all, nor do I feel anyone should ever stand up for him.

Thank you for bringing this to the fore again so obviously.

Do you want an apology for my feelings two days ago? Will it make peace? I have not been here hardly at all, came to read stuff, and saw this.

If you want an apology for how I felt right after the RNC head called Dean a terrorist mouthpiece, let me know. I will formally apologize right here.

9. Most are new to real politics.
Dean is an elbow thrower and always has been. He certainly wouldn't cry for having to throw a block or two when the whole Dem party is now part of the team. He knows he's going to get hit back, stepped on and used at points. Jesse Jackson, Bob Kerrey, Joe Biden, Dick Gephardt and scores of other candidates didn't cry in their beer in past elections. Dean won't either.

15. If you're new to real politics
then you're new to the real truth, IMO.

14. I formally apologize for this post from two days ago.
Edited on Fri Mar-19-04 03:45 PM by madfloridian
I apologize. I have hardly been here since, but I am causing trouble gone.

Please accept my apology for something I said before Dean's announcement. I realize now that no way will any one need to speak for him. He does not want it.

I wish there could be peace among us, but this is not helpful to drag up two day old posts. I never tried to cause trouble here, but apparently I am considered that way.

I apologize for this post. I do not apologize for supporting Dean. I never will. I am an activist locally because of him, as are 15 others I know.

There is nothing wrong with someone who can do that. They need NO ONE to defend them. I just feel bad that I am lumped as a problem How sad.
